The bromance between Good Will Hunting stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck has been strong since before they were teenagers when they dreamed of making it big in the entertainment business. They've been co-stars, best-friends, and also roommates...but not in a conventional way.

Before the actors became famous, there was a time when Ben Affleck was crashing on Matt Damon's couch. The actor revisited the details of the story in an interview with Access Hollywood.

Ben Affleck Slept On Matt Damon's Couch

The Saving Private Ryan actor recounted the story, revealing that Ben Affleck's engagement had ended at the time and he needed a place to stay.

"When we sold that script he [Ben Affleck] had been engaged and that engagement had broken off," he explained, continuing "And we already signed another lease - me and another guy we went to high school with."

"[We] signed a lease for a two-bedroom so we were like 'Dude we don't have a place for you to stay, sorry.'" said Damon. The Batman star moved in anyway and crashed on the small couch, even though he barely fit on it.

"He moved in with all his stuff, so all of his stuff was in our living room and he slept on this couch."

"The couch wasn't a full-sized couch and he's 6'4 so I'd walk out every morning and see his legs dangling off the side," the actor added.

Matt Damon also shared that they became "very serious" about selling a script because of how they were living, and wanted to change that.

"Everyone needs a bedroom," he joked.

It was impossible for Matt Damon and Ben Affleck to get a lease in Los Angeles at the time because they either had "no credit or bad credit" and couldn't prove to property owners that they could afford a nice place. So the newly-minted actors walked around the city with a "Variety article" which had their picture in it and an article about them selling a script.

"We walked around with this Variety article because they said you know, these two idiots sold a script," he shared, adding that they'd point to their photos on the cover, which is how they managed to get a new lease.
