Ask any music fan who the best boy band of all time is, and you'll get a variety of answers.

The Backstreet Boys might be a favorite of older '90s kids (remember, BSB came before NSYNC in the boy band timeline). And they're still around, making epic Instagram posts and growing old before fans' very eyes.

But younger '90s kids are probably passionate about *NSYNC, hanging on the comparisons of the band members now versus back then. The boys have grown up, after all.

Then came One Direction, and plenty of girls (and grown women) are still gaga over Harry Styles and the rest of the guys.

But apart from generational differences, all boy band fans have one thing in common: they love good music, excellent choreography, and a handsome face. A bit of viral fame doesn't hurt, either (we're looking at you, BTS).

But when it comes to longevity, there's one boy band that fans have all but forgotten about. And it's this boy band that beat out BSB, NSYNC, and One Direction for the title of "best boy band."

Here's a hint: Nickelodeon was behind the band's debut. In fact, the guys starred in a live-action show that was one of the network's longest-running programs.

For fans who are still scratching their heads, the name of the band was Big Time Rush.

Its members — Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Pena, and Logan Henderson — portrayed hockey players who become a boy band. The show was a hit, with a total of 74 episodes that put the band members squarely in Nickelodeon's spotlight.

Of course, guest stars like Snoop Dogg, Victoria Justice, Nicole Scherzinger, Jordin Sparks, Elizabeth Gillies, and even Alexa Vega from 'Spy Kids,' who married one of the band members, probably didn't hurt ratings.

But was Big Time Rush really the best boy band? Fans who answered Parade's 2012 survey thought so. The four bandmates beat out every other boy band in the spotlight in that year, including BSB, NSYNC, and One Direction (who made their debut in 2010).

Of the bandmates, Parade's journalist wrote, "Big Time Rush have become an offscreen phenomenon, complete with hit records and countless girls whose knees buckle in syncopated swoons at the sight of them."

Almost 7 million viewers tuned into 'Big Time Rush' the show, and the boys' first two albums reached the Billboard top 20 with no problem. But the real highlight that may have inspired over 800,000 fans to vote BTR as the best boy band?

They're authentic and kind, noted Parade's journalist. The guys are no longer touring (they stopped performing in 2014), but Insider covered their virtual reunion, a welcome respite for fans suffering through the coronavirus quarantine.

And since the quartet released an acoustic version of their song "Worldwide" (recorded separately), fans are hopeful that the "best boy band" will one day reunite for real. Although, another boy band threatens to unseat them from the throne...
