If you think people are no longer going to the cinema to watch the latest new release films, then you are not paying attention. Last year alone, movies brought in over $11.3 billion total in the United States. Although it is down 4.8% from from 2018, the amount continues to increase, year after year.

But 2020 is the first year, in a very long time, that we do not have that one film that the entire world is waiting to see. Marvel has a couple of films, including Black Widow, coming out this year but they are not going to bring in the box office that The Avengers was able to produce.

There is also no more Star Wars, at least, not for a couple of years. However, that does not mean there isn't any films worth watching this year, or the next. There are a ton of highly anticipated films that many of us will be sitting on the edge of our seats, waiting for it to hit theaters.

Let's take a look at 10 films we cannot wait to see and 10 movies we would rather skip and save our time and money.

20 Skip It: Snake Eyes (October 16th, 2020)

The first two films in the G.I. Joe series (The Rise of Cobra & Retaliation), combined for $272 million domestically, which is not bad but is still about $30 million under budget. So as far as blockbuster films are concerned, these G.I. Joe films have been nothing short of terrible.

Although Snake Eyes will have a whole new cast and crew, many of the people they picked up for the movie are far from an upgrade from the first two films. Most people are going to find something else to do the weekend this one hits theaters.

19 Can't Wait: Jackass Movie (March 5th, 2021)

Jeff Tremaine, Johnny Knoxville, and Spike Jonze came together in the late 90s and created a ground-breaking reality television series that would eventually be picked up by MTV and then be called Jackass.

After the first three films made a financial killing at the box office, compared to their budgets, by the time the third movie had ended, everyone decided to go their own ways.

Ten years later, they have announced plans for another Jackass film which will be coming out in March of 2021 and fans are beyond excited to see their favorite Jackass characters back on the big screen.

18 Skip It: Godzilla vs. Kong (November 20th, 2020)

How many times are they going to attempt to create films of two of the most iconic film monsters of all time?

Unless Christopher Nolan or Peter Jackson decide to get involved, their is simply no way that this film will be any different. Millie Bobby Brown will help get a few extra million at the box office but it simply is not enough to make us want to go see this thing.

17 Can't Wait: Jurassic World 3 (June 11th, 2021)

Colin Trevorrow might sound familiar because he was recently involved in a big mess with Disney just a few years ago. He was the original director for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker but after LucasFilm hated the script, things got crazy and he was replaced by J.J. Abrams.

It did not take long for him to get another job as he was hired to write and direct the third Jurassic World film in the new trilogy. The only reason we are excited is because they are bringing back all the original characters for this one.

16 Skip It: Clifford The Big Red Dog (November 13th, 2020)

via Slashfilm.com

Clifford the Big Red Dog is one of the greatest children's book series of the past 50 years. It is a story featuring a giant red dog named Clifford and his owner, an 8-year-old child. It is a story that is best told in a book, and not adapted into a movie.

But this one is going to be horrible because it is actually going to be a live-action film. There is no way to create this massive dog and his owner that was about the size of his paw, in a live-action format. The first trailer is going to tell you everything you need to know about it.

15 Can't Wait: The Suicide Squad (August 6th, 2021)

The Birds of Prey is coming out very soon and will showcase Harley Quinn for the second time on the big screen. Margot Robbie was born to be Harley Quinn and the fact that she will also play Harley in The Suicide Squad sequel proves it. We simply cannot get enough of her depiction of the most popular female comic book character since Wonder Woman.

However, without Will Smith, can this film bring in a big box office?

Of course! They brought in James Gunn to direct it and take his Guardians of the Galaxy style over into the DC Universe, hoping to create something that will turn into gold for the DCU.

14 Skip It: Green Lantern Corps (July 24th, 2020)

Ryan Reynolds is one of the most likable stars in Hollywood. Everything he does, becomes a hit. That is, everything except Green Lantern. The film was so terrible that not even Ryan Reynolds could save it.

So in 2014, the production on a new Green Lantern Corps began and a story emerged. Four years later, that story would get a rewrite and that has made any anticipation of the film crumble into almost nothing at all.

13 Can't Wait: The Matrix 4 (May 21, 2021)

When the original Matrix trilogy ended, the Wachowski brothers left us with very little to think another film would be on the horizon. However, rumors started to surface that a fourth film was happening, which was eventually confirmed by Warner Bros. in August of 2019.

Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss have signed on to reprise their infamous roles along with additional stars like Jessica Henwick and Neil Patrick Harris. As the film continues to get closer to its release, the buzz will continue to climb as fans have been waiting for this one for almost 20 years.

12 Skip It: The King's Man (September 18th, 2020)

Ralph Fiennes stars in upcoming prequel
via geekalerts.com

The Kingsman film franchise has produced two very successful hit films, both starring Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, and Colin Firth, as well as big name stars like Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, and Elton John.

The franchise was heading for a third film, and it was announced that The King's Man would be the next one, however it would be a prequel. But does this film series really need a prequel?

11 Can't Wait: Masters Of The Universe (March 5th, 2021)

When He-Man turned into an international success during the 1980s, it would lead to an eventual film, Masters of the Universe, starring Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella, and Courteney Cox.

The film failed to adapt the toys and the cartoon series into the actual storyline of the film. This led to one of the worst films ever made. The fans hated the film but continued to love the toys and animated series.

So when it was announced that we were going to be a Masters of the Universe film next year, the buzz went off the charts.

10 Skip It: Monster Hunter (September 4th, 2020)

Paul W. S, Anderson is the brilliant director that has made a career of turning video games into full-length feature films like the Resident Evil franchise and Mortal Kombat. He is also married to the beautiful Milla Jovovich.

However, not everything he creates has been a hit. In fact, outside the Resident Evil films, he has made a bunch of commercially unsuccessful films. Since Monster Hunter does not have the same notoriety as his other film adaptations, there is almost no chance this one will be any different.

9 Can't Wait: Tenet (July 17th, 2020)

via screencrush.com

Ever since Memento, Christopher Nolan has become a revolutionary director that has continued to amaze audiences with his way of storytelling. He takes an approach that focuses on immersing the audience into the film by forcing them to anticipate what is going to happen next in the movie.

For the first time since 2017, he returns with Tenet, a film about a secret agent, with the ability to travel through time, who is trying to stop World War III from occurring. This film is coming out at the perfect time.

8 Skip It: The New Mutants (April 3rd, 2020)

With Marvel now entering a completely new direction, one of their latest film endeavors, The New Mutants, might be a terrible way to start the new phase of the MCU.

Audiences are not going to be ready for a film telling the story of The New Mutants, which is a group of kids who are discovering their superpowers but in a darker way than X-Men. It is a horror film and fans are going to be disappointed when they find this out.

7 Can't Wait: Last Night In Soho (September 25th, 2020)

Edgar Wright is the genius screenwriter that gave us Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The World's End, Ant-Man, and Baby Driver.

The 2017 hit film Baby Driver opened up many fans eyes to just how talented Edgar Wright is as a writer. So it is a no-brainer that his upcoming psychological horror film project, Last Night in Soho, is something everyone is looking forward to seeing.

6 Skip It: Space Jam 2 (July 16th, 2021)

After many years of speculation and rumors, the sequel to the shockingly successful Space Jam, starring Michael Jordan, is finally being filmed and will hit theaters next summer.

It will feature LeBron James and all of your favorite Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. The biggest reason this is not going to be a hit is because there is simply no reason for it. Why does this film need to be made to begin with?

5 Can't Wait: Wonder Woman 1984 (June 5th, 2020)

The DC Comics universe failed, yet again, to compete with Marvel and create an entire world where all films happened in the same universe. However, they aren't giving up just yet.

After the success of 2017's Wonder Woman, it was only natural that there would be a sequel. Luckily for fans, that sequel is coming out this summer and the trailers have given us all a chance to see just how amazing this new film is going to be.

4 Skip It: Artemis Fowl (May 29th, 2020)

It seems as though Disney is trying to create their own Harry Potter franchise by adapting Artemis Fowl, a story that stars a 12-year-old boy as a criminal mastermind that lives in a world of fairies. Unfortunately, it appears that the once highly anticipated project has now become something no one is really interested in seeing.

The buzz for the upcoming film has already started to die off and that is a sign of an upcoming disaster for Disney. Just like Lone Ranger, timing is everything.

3 Can't Wait: Mortal Kombat (January 15th, 2021)

Mortal Kombat is one of the most iconic video games of all time. It introduced hardcore violence into the video gaming world and would eventually become a major motion film. However, when Mortal Kombat hit theaters in 1995, it was a bomb.

Next January, Warner Bros. will have a chance to give the franchise one more shot at becoming a legitimate action film that will make fans happy and in the meanwhile, they are waiting in anticipation.

2 Skip It: The Batman (June 25th, 2021)

When Michael Keaton took on the infamous role of the Dark Knight, in the late 80s, it was a perfect fit. But after he failed to return for the third film, the role of Batman became an open audition for the biggest names in Hollywood.

Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck have all taken on the role of Batman since the early 90s but none of them were as good as the original. Now that Ben Affleck has decided to step down from any future Batman films, Robert Pattinson was hired to become the next caped crusader.

Did the glittery vampire from Twilight just sign a contract to be the latest Batman?

1 Can't Wait: Dune (December 18th, 2020)

Dune has always been one of the most complicated book series ever to be adapted into a screenplay because of its complexity and futuristic story. It is a science fiction novel that became popular in the 70s when Alejandro Jodorowsky attempted to create an epic 14-hour film.

Since then, no one has really wanted to touch the project, outside of a few failed attempts, until now. Warner Bros. hired Denis Villeneuve, the brilliant mind behind Sicario, Arrival, and Blade Runner 2049, to direct. The cast is as big as the story and fans are finally preparing themselves for a truly epic story, finally.
