The followers of Beth Stern's Instagram transcend the die-hard fans of The Howard Stern Show. While there is some overlap, Beth has also attracted a number of A-list celebrities as well as cat and dog lovers of all ages. This is because Howard Stern's second wife is one of the most prominent animal activists in The United States.
Beth has authored numerous children's books, the sales of which all go to her and Howard's animal charity, Bianca's Furry Friends, which is part of the world's largest no-kill animal shelter, North Shore Animal League. On top of this, she and Howard foster dozens of kittens at a time out of their own home. Her Instagram account is the home of these cats. It's where those looking for a homeless cat to love go. But over the summer, Beth's fans were treated to a little more of her shock-jock husband's input than they wanted. Here's what happened...
What Howard Did To Beth's Instagram Account
Upon returning from his controversial summer vacation, Howard admitted that he missed certain elements of broadcasting while away. He even suggested that SiriusXM invest in the technology for him to pop on the radio or the video app whenever he felt like it, such as when he's painting. However, Howard did get some time to do a little bit of entertainment while away, it just took the form of his wife's Instagram. He explained this on his September 7th episode of The Howard Stern Show.
"So, Beth's [Instagram] posts, in my opinion, got better because I got involved and started producing her posts. I was like, 'Honey, here's what you need to do on your Instagram. Let's get on and do a live broadcast right now,'" Howard explained to his listeners and his longtime co-host Robin Quivers.
Some of Howard's first callers back after his vacation remarked on how much they loved Beth's Instagram updates. But these were mostly men who loved seeing Beth in a bikini modeling her Helen Rose tote bags. The profits of these tote bags, which are named after one of their adopted cats, go to her animal charity. So, Howard, who is constantly involved in the animal charity, decided to try and beef up sales. And he did this in a way that made some fans gleeful and others (mainly ones who follow Beth for her cat posts) extremely mad.
"I did a photoshoot of Beth's a** and got it up on there. It was a pretty good shot too if I do say so myself," Howard said of the photo he took of Beth's butt modeling the tote bag. "I said, 'Honey, I have to sell these Helen Rose bags.' With the painting I did of my cat. They go fast, actually. [Beth] does these limited editions. She goes, 'I got another couple to sell;.' And I said, 'Well, you know, um, you were just walking and I was starring at your a** and I think that's a good sales pitch, the way you walk with it and so I took a picture. And look, men appreciate that."
But as stated above, not all of Beth's fans were happy...
"Some woman goes, 'I didn't sign on to your Instagram account to see bikini a** pictures,'" Howard explained.
"Well, that's what I was going to say, the people who have loved Beth's account before your input might get a little disturbed by your input," Robin laughed.
The Fans Reactions To The Changes On Beth's Instagram Account
As it turns out, Robin was right. Multiple people on Beth's page commented on that photo, as well as some of the other more scandalous photos the beautiful blonde was posting with Howard's advice. They weren't happy. And this caused Howard to throw his arms up in the air.
"I said, 'You know what? Screw Beth's account, I'm going back to work. I'm tired of giving my creativity over to this account,'" Howard joked. "I said, 'Honey, a little more a** and less cats. Let's go!'"
Howard then proceeded to wax poetic about how amazing his wife of over 20 years looks and explained that he just loves embracing that. And, as it turns out, Beth doesn't seem to mind. Not only did she go along with Howard's recommendations, but she also continued to post more controversial photos on her account despite Howard claiming that he no longer has any input on what she shares. This includes a recent photo of the 49-year-old woman jumping into their pool wearing a bikini.
Even though some of Howard and Beth's fans were unhappy to see more scandalous photos than all of the cute images of cats on Beth's account, there were others.
"I love seeing you smile, Bethie. You light it up and sparkle. Pure sunshine!" one fan wrote.
"I want to be beth stern when I grow up," another wrote.
While it's impossible to please everybody, it's clear that some really didn't mind some of the edgier photos on Beth's account. After all, they're used to seeing it elsewhere. But there's also something special seeing a woman nearing 50-years-old showing off how gorgeous older women can be. Most importantly, these images are reminding people of ways they can support Bianca's Furry Friends and North Shore Animal League, and all the homeless cats that are looking for a family to love them.
