Though it's been less than two years since 'The Big Bang Theory' ended, fans still miss it daily. They're just not ready to give up their favorite characters, especially the iconic duo that is Penny and Leonard.

Sure, there are people out there who are definitely not fans. Some of them even think that 'The Big Bang Theory' was just the worst sitcom on TV. But there are also casual fans who take issue with some of the show's plot points. For example, those who aren't quite sure Penny was that invested in her relationship with Leonard.

They're critical because they care, and some fans say that Penny's feelings for Sheldon outshine her love for Leonard.

Fans pointed out that while Penny and Leonard ultimately realize they're soulmates and go on to have a happily ever after, there's sort of a plot hole there. In many of the episodes, it seems like Penny and Sheldon have a special relationship, too, and in some cases, it seems to outshine her feelings for Leonard.

Quora commenters point out that Penny and Sheldon have a special bond. Not only does Sheldon open up and feel comfortable with Penny, but she seems more attentive to his feelings than some of their other friends. Fans suggest that part of the reason why the two are so close is that Penny's personality is very similar to Sheldon's sister's.

While the actress that played Sheldon's sister on the show was only around for a brief time, 'Young Sheldon' gives some insight into the pair's sibling relationship. And that's where fans saw similarities between Penny and Missy, and then deduced that Sheldon felt confident in their bond because he already experienced that with his sister.

But as far as Penny loving Sheldon more than Leonard? Fans say that Penny is more sisterly/motherly toward Sheldon, which is clearly different from her partnership with Leonard.

So while most commenters acknowledge that yes, Penny does seem to be strongly bonded to Sheldon, she wouldn't choose her friend over her husband if it came down to it. Besides, Leonard and his leading lady often treat Sheldon like their child, even when they weren't together.

While the entire group has their unique connections to Sheldon, Penny has shown him more respect than most of their male friends. And even Amy said she felt jealous of Penny's bond with her man.

Leonard never seemed to mind, however, which reinforces the idea that Penny and Sheldon had a purely platonic bond that didn't disrupt Penny and Leonard's romantic relationship (even if it messed with Amy's feelings).
