Season 23 of Big Brother was anything but unforgettable. Not only did The Cookout, which was the first all black alliance, make it to the final six, but for the first time ever, the final two saw both seats taken up by black people, Xavier Prather and Derek Frazier, with the former winning. Tiffany, who was a member of The Cookout, also won America's Favorite Player, making history again.
Another fan favorite, Derek Xiao, more commonly known as Derek X or Baby D, was the runner-up for AFP. Claire Rehfuss was a last-minute replacement after the original woman who was picked have a false positive COVID test and could not enter the house.
Claire and Derek X became very close in the house and got even closer in the jury house, revealing later that they are now in a relationship. Here's what Derek X and Claire have been up to since the show ended.
10 Their Time On 'Big Brother'
Derek X and Claire were allies in the game. They were part of the royal flush alliance and after that disbanded, they got even closer and the duo and Tiffany teamed up. They were only against each other on the block one week in the game, which led to Claire leaving. No one knew that the friends would eventually turn into a couple, especially since Derek X seemed to like Hannah Chadda in the house. But him and Claire stayed as loyal as they could to each other until they couldn't anymore.
9 Thanked Fans For The Support
After getting out of the Big Brother house, both of them thanked fans for the love and support on their Instagrams. With Derek X being voted second favorite player in the house and both of them receiving the top prizes for BB Bucks, they were loved by fans and really appreciated the support they received inside and outside the house.
8 Announced Their Relationship
Perhaps the best kept secret of the game, Derek X and Claire announced that they were in a relationship exclusively through Us Weekly and their social media pages. This threw fans for a loop because most people thought he was going to end up with Hannah. "I knew from week one that Claire was my type. I guess I just never let myself explore that beyond just a friendship," the start up founder told the magazine.
7 How The Relationship Started
Although there are always showmances in the house, sometimes the best ones start after the game and that's exactly what happened here. Despite Xiao knowing he liked the AI Engineer in the house, they didn't act on it until the jury house. And everyone in the jury house knew, but no one said anything. “Once you’re off camera, that’s when you really, really get to know who a person is and you can really be vulnerable and you can really be open and really talk about a lot of things from your life,” Rehfuss said in their interview.
6 Derek Made Fun TikToks With 'BB23' Alum
Tiktok is all the rage now and Derek Xiao, being a 24-year-old, has one. When he first got out of the house house he made videos with his houseguest, Chaddha. Now, he incorporates his girlfriend in them and seems to have a lot of fun with the videos, whether they are in it together or he flies solo. He has nearly 90k followers, thanks to his fame on the show.
5 Derek X And Claire Explored New York City
Dliare is one of the few Big Brother relationships that didn't have to start out long-distance because, luckily, they both live in New York City. They've posted adorable photos while exploring the city, and Claire even showed her boyfriend the spot in the city where she shot her opening package. It is unclear if they moved in together yet, but they certainly seem to spend a lot of time together. A lot of other BB alums live in The Big Apple, so maybe they'll meet up with them soon.
4 They Got In The Fall Spirit
They both posted the same pictures of themselves in NYC holding pumpkins and posing in front of a beautiful Fall background, with big pumpkins and changing leaves and haystacks. Rehfuss captioned her photo, "Wait, how do we turn these into lattes?" Many Big Brother alums commented on the adorable photo and hopefully, the couple posts more photos during this season because the aesthetic is everything.
3 Tried To Decide On Halloween Costumes
Xiao posted that they are heading down to Florida for Halloween and that they need ideas for costumes. He posted a hilarious photo of Claire on TikTok trying to find them couple costumes last minute. Claire commented on his Instagram that they should be "two people who know what they are doing." Hopefully, they find something good last minute, if not, they always have punishment costumes from their time on the show. Either way, we can't wait to see what they come up with.
2 Bonding Over 'Survivor'
Another CBS show that many people love is Survivor. And clearly, the New Yorkers are fans of the show as they have tweeted about it a lot since it has been on and Claire even made an Instagram story talking about the current season. Maybe they'll find themselves on the show in the future or even compete on The Amazing Race in the past, like other BB pairs have in the past like Brendon and Rachel Villegas.
