The Power of Veto (Veto) was introduced in season 3 of Big Brother and allows the winner to choose whether to take someone off the chopping block or keep the nominations the same. The POV holder is also the same for that week. There have been numerous variations of the Veto throughout the franchise.
Six houseguests compete for the veto every week, including the HOH and the two nominees and three other people selected by random draw. Some of the Veto competitions have been the most iconic and legendary competitions of the franchise and have been played over and over again.
10 Punch, Slap, Kick
Punch, Slap, Kick is a reoccurring POV competition. It was played in seasons 19 and 20. Houseguests had to remember a series of beatings in order to answer questions. If they get a question right, they receive a point. The person with the highest number of points, in the end, won the Veto.
This competition has only been won by men so far. Both seasons this was played it was hosted by an outside guest, Bobby Moynihan in season 19 and BB alum, Rachel Reilly Villegas in 20.
9 Bowlerina
Bowlerina has been played as a POV, HOH, and Temptation competition. It was even enjoyed by houseguests on 'Celebrity Big Brother.' The competing houseguests have to spin around while holding metal bars above their heads.
After a certain amount of time or spins, the barrier or gutter will drop and the houseguests have to roll a ball towards the bowling pin shaped targets. They have to repeat the process until all the targets are knocked down.
8 Ball Roll
This competition has been seen in many forms. There is the one in the picture above where you have to get the ball through a maze and the first one to get it wins the competition. Another version is houseguests roll a ball down a path with numbers and whoever lands on the highest number wins the competition.
Usually, for POV, the ball roll consists of a ramp and a ball where houseguests have to run back and forth and roll the ball a certain amount of times without letting it hit the floor. All provide great entertainment.
7 Prize Swap
This is one of the most reoccurring and fun competitions on the show. The houseguests compete in a series of rounds where they try to get the highest number. Whoever has the lowest that round gets eliminated.
Everyone picks a prize. One is the Power of Veto. Others are rewards, such as cash or a trip, and others are punishment, such as a unitard. Contestants swap prizes until everyone has picked one and one person is left with the Veto.
6 Spelling Search
Spelling search always provides for great entertainment. Houseguests must rummage through a setup area and get as many letters as they can to spell the longest word they can. It must be a real word and spelled correctly. They bring them back to their board one at a time until time runs out.
This competition has been used in many seasons and is typically played in the first week. The only woman to win this competition was Shannon Elizabeth on the first celebrity season.
5 Caged Eggs
Used as a POV and HOH competition, Caged Eggs finds houseguests located on a side of a wired fence and there is a pile of eggs on the other side. They need to maneuver the eggs one by one to a certain destination. The first player to do so wins the competition.
In season 18, after getting the eggs to the other side, houseguests had to roll the egg down three ramps to knock down the letters H,O,H. Every winner of this competition has made it to the final five.
4 Zingbot Comp
Everybody, well the fans, love Zingbot. He is a robot sort or guy who roasts the current houseguests and then has them compete in a POV competition. Everyone is too focused on the insults he is spewing to really focus on the competition, but it is a fun time for all.
Many of the other competitions mentioned have been used as the Zingbot competition, but having him there makes it that much more fun. Just don't focus too much on his insults and focus on the competition, which is most likely a puzzle, in front of you.
3 BB Comics
This one is fairly newer, but a fan and houseguest favorite. BB Comics depicts the current houseguests as comic book characters. The competitors must zip line across a window and replicate the exact lineup and comic book cover that is depicted. There are two for each houseguest and the right one must be chosen.
Whoever gets it correct in the fastest amount of time wins the Veto. BB Comics has been played since season 16 and will hopefully continue on as long as the show is on. Zingbot is the only non-houseguest to have a comic book drawn after him.
2 Hide And Go Veto
If you hate messes, you will hate this competition. Players have a POV card, which they have to hide somewhere in the house. They have a certain amount of time to hide it. Then, one by one, the competitors enter the house and tear it up to find their opponent's veto cards. The goal is to have your card, not the one found in the end.
It takes a while for them to clean up the house after this, but the entertainment is worth it. An interesting fact about this competition is no one who has won it has gone on to win the game.
1 OTEV
The competition everyone wants to play in and make it to. If you've made it to OTEV, you've made it far in the game. OTEV, which is Veto spelled backward, is a competition where houseguests listen to a riddle from OTEV, a different animal every year, and must bring back the correct answer.
They slide down the slippery slide and the last person in each round to bring back their answer or if they bring back the wrong answer, is eliminated. It started in season 7 and has been played ever since, except for season 10. No one who has won OTEV has gone on to win the game.
