"This is about many different situations that we've all either witnessed or experienced,” she wrote. “I hope this can inspire change. try not to abuse your power."

Some fans believe that the song alludes to men abusing their power and using it to control a younger woman in the entertainment industry. For example, the second verse says, “And you swear you didn't know (Didn't know) / You said you thought she was your age.”

Eilish continues, "How dare you? / And how could you? / Will you only feel bad if it turns out, that they kill your contract?"

Others believe the lyrics hint at her secret relationship with ex-boyfriend Q, aka Brandon Quention Adams, who was featured in the Apple TV+ documentary titled Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Bunny.

“She said you were a hero / You played the part / But you ruined her in a year / Don't act like it was hard / And you swear you didn't know (Didn't know),” she wrote. “No wonder why you didn't ask / She was sleepin' in your clothes (In your clothes) / But now she's got to get to class.”

Eilish's ex-boyfriend Q was first introduced in the documentary. It’s unclear when they started dating, but they were seen together in the footage filmed in 2018.

She decided to call it quits with the rapper in 2019, writing in an official statement that read, “I just wasn't happy. And I didn't want the same things he wanted and I don't think that's fair, for him. I don't think you should be in a relationship, super excited about certain things that the other person couldn't care less about."
