With Grimes and Elon Musk officially broken up, what's in store for X Æ A-12?

Baby X came into the world on May 4, 2020 to his sword-wielding mom and tech billionaire dad. Grimes and Elon never married, but both still have equal financial responsibility for keeping their little bundle of letters and numbers alive and well.

Grimes' fans have just found something that might mean Elon won't contribute much of his money to this whole child-raising thing. Luckily Grimes herself is a millionaire, but fans are finding it incredibly unfair that the world's second richest man could end up giving (relatively) so little to his own son.

Read on to learn about the specific law that entitles Elon to give just a tiny percentage of his wealth to his kid.

The 'Child Support Cap'

For background, Elon Musk actually has six kids including Baby X. He also sold most of his houses and possessions last year and moved from California into a small rental home in Austin, Texas.

California doesn't have a 'child support cap,' aka a limit on how much child support parents are entitled to pay based on their income.

For Texans, child support caps at a MAXIMUM of $9200 per month, no matter how many millions (or billions) the payer makes.

Fans Say It Applies to Elon Musk

In this Tweet from September 25, one fan linked screenshots about the child support cap and information about Elon's move.

It earned thousands of likes, retweets, and quote tweets from fans who seem outraged at the father of six's situation.

One fan even calculated the difference, claiming that moving to Texas saved Elon $55,000 in child support each month for Baby X alone.

Elon Musk Admitted Grimes Does the Parenting

Elon hasn't spoken much about his parenting plans, but he did get candid about dad life in a New York Times profile published in July 2020. By his own account, their moms do most of his kids' day to day support whereas he takes them on occasional vacations.

"Grimes has a much bigger role than me right now," he explained. "When the kid gets older, there will be more of a role for me...I think just doing what I’ve done with my other kids. If I have a trip for Tesla to China, for example, I’ll bring the kids with me and we’ll go see the Great Wall or we took the bullet train from Beijing to Xian and saw the Terracotta Warriors."

Let's hope Baby X and the others stay well-cared for plus any more children Elon ends up having in the future. Dude might not be done!

“I think babies are supercool and really people need to have more babies," he went on to tell NYT. "It sounds obvious, but if people don’t have enough babies, humanity will disappear."
