K-pop goddesses Blackpink are about to release a five-year anniversary movie, and fans can’t wait.

Following their 2020 Netflix documentary, the band has announced a “4+1 PROJECT” as part of the celebrations, with the movie being the centerpiece. Blackpink: The Movie will look back at the first half a decade of Jennie, Rosé, Lisa and Jisoo but it isn't clear whether all fans will be able to watch it.

Blackpink Fans Can’t Wait For The Movie

The movie will include some of the band’s most memorable shows and will be divided into different sections.

"Memories Room” will see the four members reminisce on their time together, while “Beauty” will zero in on each member to celebrate their uniqueness. Finally, a section called “Undisclosed Special Interview” will likely feature previously unseen footage.

Despite the excitement, international Blackpink fans have one tiny issue with the movie.

The film is expected to arrive in South Korea’s CGV cinemas on August 8th, 2021, exactly five years to the date since BLACKPINK debuted in 2016. But what about the rest of the world?

International Fans Are Ready To Do Whatever It Takes To Watch ‘Blackpink: The Movie’

If you’re not in South Korea, you can still watch the movie in a theater.

After its South Korean premiere, the movie will open globally in over 100 countries, with dates to be announced in the coming weeks. Blackpink: The Movie will play on Screen X shows, meaning the theater screening the film will provide an immersive, panoramic experience with the use of three side screens to recreate the atmosphere of a concert. The 4Dx format will also include extra elements, such as wind, fragrance, and LED lighting.

Fans are asking whether the movie will also be shown on regular screens. At present, it isn’t clear whether the film will also be available to watch on a normal screen.

“I'm [a] brazilian fan, who's gonna cry more?” one fan tweeted.

“looks like we will, but most won't be able to see because we have few 4xd theaters,” another Brazilian fan clarified.

Those who won’t have access to a Screen X show are already weighing their not entirely legal options.

“we can use vpn,” one fan suggested.

While we don’t condone piracy, we understand this is a huge event for K-pop fans and hope all cinemas will screen the film.
