Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, young Damian learned the legacy of his father later on because Bob passed away when he was only two. He's linked up with many big artists throughout the decades including Bruno Mars in the latter's "Liquor Store Blues" from debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans. Despite failing to reach the Billboard Hot 100 at the time of its release as a promotional single, "Liquor Store Blues" has become a sleeper hit after years, amassing over 152 million views on YouTube.

In addition to his stellar singing career, Damian is also a lucrative businessman who'd amassed a whopping $20 million in net worth. In 2016, for example, he followed his father's footsteps by joining the weed industry and forming his own herb company Ocean Growth Extract. Damian Marley linked up with rapper Nas, whom he collaborated with for "Road to Zion" from Welcome to Jamrock, for a collaborative album titled Distant Relatives. The album's title itself comes from the idea of two contrasting musical genres that they have: Damian with reggae and Nas with hip-hop, while still maintaining close relations to their African ancestry. It opened at number five on the Billboard 200 with 57,000 first-week sales.

2 Damian Marley Won Another Grammy In 2018

In 2017, Damian released his latest album up to this writing. Titled Stony Hill, the album quickly became a worldwide phenomenon among reggae listeners, entering the Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of 6,000 copies. A year later, he won another Grammy for Best Reggae Album, but he still needs four more wins to tie with his half-brother Ziggy who holds the record for the most win in this category.
