Season 1 of BoJack Horseman introduced us to some amazing characters with some interesting backstories. BoJack Horseman himself was revealed to be a washed-up '90s actor from a family-centered sitcom that came to an end decades ago. His depression and narcissism push him in the direction of most of his choices. He was voiced by Will Arnett.

Diane Nguyen, voiced by Alison Brie, is a talented writer who gets paired up with BoJack to write his memoir and along the way, BoJack develops romantic feelings for her. His feelings get so deep that he even tries to mess up her wedding plans to Mr Peanutbutter. Princess Caroline is revealed to be a hard-working career-driven woman with a crazy work ethic and a devotion to BoJack's wellbeing. Todd Chavez, voiced by Aaron Paul, is a guy in his twenties trying to figure out his next move in life.

This is the episode of BoJack Hoseman where BoJack told Diane, "Look, take it from someone with his own sh***y parents. Family is a sinkhole, and you were right to get out when you had the chance." As dark as it sounds, both BoJack and Diane dealt with pretty messed up childhoods with parents who bullied them instead of cultivating healthy relationships with them.

Zoës and Zeldas - 7.5

Zoës and Zeldas When some members of the gang tried to decipher who was a "Zoe" and who was a "Zelda", no one really wanted to admit how much of a Zoe they were. The reason why is that those who are considered Zoe-like are cynical and pessimistic but sort of prefer to describe themselves as being realists. 8 BoJack Hates The Troops - 7.7

The second episode of BoJack Horseman was titled "BoJack Hates the Troops" and pulled in a 7.7 rating on IMDb. The episode focuses on BoJack going head to head against a veteran military man who called "dibs" on a package of muffins. BoJack ended up snagging the muffins and eating all twelve of them in one sitting. This incident caused a lot of bad press for BoJack.

7 One Trick Pony - 7.8

One Trick Pony

By the time Diane is finished writing the book she was hired to write about BoJack Horseman's life, he was not pleased by the results whatsoever. He felt offended by some of the things she wrote about him since he is heavily in denial about many things in his life-- including the details of his rough childhood. He told her he wouldn't be moving forward with the book she wrote so she leaked it to BuzzFeed.

Our A-Story Is a 'D' Story

On one particular evening when BoJack is feeling particularly jealous of Mr Peanutbutter for his relationship with Diane, BoJack decides to do something a little reckless and crazy. He gets intoxicated and seals the letter "D" from the Hollywood sign. The "D" remains gone from the Hollywood sign for the duration of the show leaving the town called Hollywoo instead. Mr Peanutbutter ends up taking the credit for stealing the letter.

5 Horse Majeure - 7.9

Horse Majeure

BoJack tries to sabotage Diane and Mr Peanutbutter's wedding in this episode. He fails miserably with his plane. At one point in the episode, he says, "You know, sometimes I feel like I was born with a leak, and any goodness I started with just slowly spilled out of me, and now it's all gone. And I'll never get it back in me. It's too late. Life is a series of closing doors, isn't it?" Pretty depressing...

4 Say Anything - 8.0

Say Anything

The first episode of BoJack Horseman that was able to reach the 8.0 mark is called Say Anything. Princess Caroline does her best to prove what a hard-working, career-driven woman she can really be despite the obstacles coming her way.

3 Later - 8.4

Later

In this episode that pulled in an 8.4 rating on IMDb, BoJack gets offered a new acting role. He asks Diane, "Well, do you think I'm a good person deep down?" she responds blankly saying, "That's the thing. I don't think I believe in 'deep down'. I kind of think all you are is just the things that you do." That realization is pretty eye-opening for BoJack. Being able to star in the Secretariat film is also very exciting to him.

2 The Telescope - 8.6

The Telescope

Herb Kazazz was one of BoJack Horseman's closest friends when they were coming up in the Hollywood insularity. Sadly, Herb got cut from his petition for being a gay man but BoJack was able to stay in his same position. Herb felt totally betrayed by BoJack and it was a messed up situation. In this episode, BoJack takes a trip to visit Herb who is dying from cancer.

1 Downer Ending - 9.1

Downer Ending

Is BoJack Horseman a good person? In this episode, he definitely fives into the question after going through a drug-fueled bender. He says, "Diane, I need you to tell me that it's not too late—I, I, I need you to tell me that I'm a good person. I know that I can be selfish and narcissistic and self-destructive, but underneath all that, deep down, I'm a good person and I need you to tell me that I'm good—Diane—tell me, please, Diane, tell me that I'm good." She doesn't give him the answer he is desperately after.
