The upcoming installment of Netflix's hit Regency period drama Bridgerton has introduced the ton's newest members, the Sharmas.

The second chapter of the Shonda Rhimes-produced series will focus on Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, played by English actor Jonathan Bailey. Opposite Bailey, Sex Education star Simone Ashley has been cast as Kate Sharma, a character originally known as Kate Sheffield in the novels by Julia Quinn.

In the upcoming series, Anthony is out in search of a wife and sets his eyes on Kate’s younger sister Edwina. Unfortunately, Kate doesn’t seem thrilled at the prospect of having someone as arrogant as Anthony in the family. As Netflix puts it, Bridgerton’s new female lead suffers no fools, the viscount included. And the latest sneak peek is proof.

Netflix Introduces Kate And Edwina Sharma Ahead Of 'Bridgerton' Anthony Drama

Netflix has presented the new characters to the fans, as thirsty for some Bridgerton news as ever.

"Calling all Bridgerton fans, The Sharma Family has officially arrived thanks to these brand-new photos from Season 2," the streaming platform has shared on its social channels.

The pictures include Kate and Edwina, played by Charithra Chandran. Kate's stepmother, Lady Mary, is played by Shelley Conn.

One picture has caught the eye of fans. In one of the snaps, Anthony and Kate appear to be alone in the garden -- and Bridgerton lovers know all too well how dangerous something like that can be!

On her part, Lady Whistledown herself (tweeting from the show's official Twitter account) has expressed her interest in the new characters.

"This author shall be keeping a very keen eye on the Sharma family...as well as the rest of the ton, of course," she said.

Kate And Anthony Have Some Real Chemistry In Bridgerton 2's Sneak Peek

And a recent video anticipating season two seems to confirm it might be well worth keeping an eye on Kate and Anthony indeed.

During the aforementioned garden encounter, Kate scolds her sister's suitor with a sharp-tongued remark.

Anthony expresses his interest and curiosity in Kate, but he'll get more than he bargained for when he realizes she is a determined young woman who won't fall under his spell.

"Are the young ladies of London truly so easily won by a pleasing smile and absolutely nothing more?" Kate scolds Anthony after hearing him talking about his ideal wife in a stereotypical manner.

"So you find my smile pleasing?" Anthony tries to spin Kate's comment on its head with little luck.

"I find your opinion of yourself entirely too high," Kate replies, before leaving the Viscount to reflect on his actions, alone.

If the entire season is anything like this scene, Bridgerton viewers are in for some real sparks.
