Before Brie Larson became an Oscar winning actress, she was a vinyl DJ.

The Captain Marvel star shared a throwback picture of her DJing days in a 2017 Instagram post. In the post Larson explains being a DJ was her first "real" job. Apparently she DJed at "magazine parties" and "hotel bars on weekends" because she couldn't survive as a struggling actress on the Screen Actors Guild minimum.

"I used to DJ", Larson wrote in her caption.

"It was the 'real' job that floated me while I auditioned for movies I never got. Even during the filming of Short Term 12, I spun records at magazine parties and hotel bars on weekends because I couldn't survive off of SAG minimum. I loved rare foreign cover of Beatles songs, Ye-Ye girls, and soul. Drunk dudes would request trap and I'd tell them 'Sorry I only play vinyl.' I was hustling, but I got people dancing hung with my other DJ friends. I'm grateful for where I am now, but want to give a toast to the life I lived before. To all the dreamers with day jobs, I see you, don't give up. There is beauty in your journey.🍻#fbf."

This isn't the first time Larson revealed her days DJing. In 2015, Larson shared tips on how to DJ any party with GQ. In the short video, she said aspiring DJs should "always bring more records than you think that you need," and to "always bring the record that you think you definitely won't play cuz it usually ends up being what you want to play first."

Brie Larson's journey from struggling actress to an Academy Award-winner hasn't been an easy one.

Larson knew she wanted to be an actress at a young age. At six years old, she auditioned and was enrolled in a training program at the American Conservatory Theater making her the youngest student ever admitted. When she wasn't being homeschooled, she was writing and directing her own films with a cast consisting of her cousins.

At seven years old, her parents divorced and her mother moved them to Los Angeles so Brie could pursue her dreams in acting. Like most actors starting in the business, Brie was broke. Her family lived in a one-bedroom apartment with a Murphy bed, a bed that came out of the wall, and only three articles of clothing per person.

In an interview with Willie Geist in a recent episode of Sunday TODAY, Larson describes her journey as a challenging one. Geist asked Larson when she felt had finally made it in Hollywood, to which Larson responded with how she "had a hard time getting work again," after a television show she starred in got canceled.

"I've been broke a dozen times," she continued. "When you look at it, it kind of makes sense, or my IMDb maybe looks consistent, but really there's large gaps of time with three auditions a day, still."

From living "living off the food in the film-festival welcome gift bags" to earning an Oscar, there's no doubt Brie Larson's dreams came true.
