Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II's husband, has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace has sadly announced.
Buckingham Palace said: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh."
"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."

Protocol suggests that The Queen will enter a eight-day period of mourning following the death of her beloved husband.

Following these eight days, a further period of official Royal Mourning is expected to continue for 30 days. As per his wishes, Prince Phillip will not lie in state, but a royal ceremonial funeral at Windsor Castle in Berkshire is expected.

A military procession is also expected in London.

The Duke of Edinburgh's body is expected to lay at Chapel Royal in St James's Palace in London. This is also where Princess Diana lay for several days before her funeral in 1997.

Prince Phillip is then expected to be buried in Frogmore Gardens, in the grounds of Windsor Castle. This is where the Prince's mother, Princess Alice of Battenberg, was born.
