Britney Spears fans have demanded her social media manager quit after the singer's recent Instagram.
The 39-year-old pop star finally broke her silence on the Framing Britney Spears doc earlier this week. She claimed she hadn't seen it in full, but had seen clips that had made her cry for "two weeks." The Grammy winner also claimed she was "embarrassed" by the film.
It is no secret Britney's father Jamie has been her conservator since 2008. He has also slammed his portrayal in the New York Times documentary. The 68-year-old reportedly controls his daughter's finances and even the people she can see.
Fans claim Britney's post where she addressed the documentary was not written by her but her social media manager, Cassie Petrey.
Eagle-eyed Free Britney followers say the style of writing is telling and is how Britney's long time social media manager tends to post.
But a source told TMZ: "Cassie did NOT craft Britney's statement about the Hulu documentary, and she wasn't even aware of Brit's plan to express herself until the IG post was published."
Petrey has even come out with her own statement, insisting she did not write her client's post. But that didn't stop the "Oops...I Did It Again" star's fan casting doubt on her defense.
A fan wrote: "Britney Spears' social media manager, @cassiepetrey, got mad at the backlash she received for posting questionable content to Britney's IG yesterday, so Cassie posted that Britney was embarrassed by the Framing Britney documentary via Britney's IG. What a a freak. #FreeBritney."
One fan simply stated on Twitter: "There is not a single chance that Britney wrote this."
Another added: "This social media manager needs to be fired! Britney needs support and should not be exploited on social media. She's clearly not well. I hope Britney is able to take control of her life and hire her own staff that are better fit to take care of her. Let's not forget it wasn't long ago she was making money for these people including her dad."
"I can only imagine how Brit must feel waking up everyday knowing all from one moment of lost control of her emotions she is a state sanctioned prisoner - why does her sister never speak out for her," a concerned fan commented.
After Britney suffered her breakdown in 2007, she lost full custody of her two sons and was placed in the conservatorship of her father and a lawyer called Andrew Wallet.
