Fans from the #FreeBritney movement are upset after a major publication made fun of them for being emotional after Britney Spears was freed from her conservatorship.

After being called "lunatics" for their passionate reaction to the news that the pop stars' father was suspended as her conservator, Britney fans went on the defensive.

Many are mad at Barstool Sports for the post, which they called insensitive and hypocritical.

Barstool Sports Called #FreeBritney Supporters "Lunatics"

It all started when some of Britney's biggest supporters held a rally outside the courthouse where the decision was made Wednesday.

After the win was announced, the fans were overjoyed, with some in tears from how happy they were for the singer.

One outlet, however, thought that they were taking things too far with the tears.

Barstool Sports posted a headline about it that read "Get A Load Of These Lunatics Crying Their Eyes Out After Britney Spears Father Was Suspended From Her Conservatorship".

In the article, the author made fun of them for being so affected and for how they spent their "free time".

The #FreeBritney Fans Are Upset With The Publication

Spears fans were not happy with what Barstool Sports had to say about them, including the crying woman in the photo they used.

"Hey @barstoolsports, Megan here. The one pictured. You clearly need to learn more about our movement," she told them in a classy clap-back.

People rallied behind her, saying that the outlet was out of line for mocking supporters of a women's rights issue.

Others pointed out that the publication has posted things in the past that are pro #FreeBritney, and even sells merchandise with the slogan.

"Weren’t y’all #FreeBritney a couple weeks back and now you’re making fun of people who fought for another human being’s rights and liberties to be restored? This tweet is not it. Do better," someone said.
