Britney Spears have let out a sigh of relief after the pop star came a little more closer to freedom. Yesterday, the "Sometimes" singer's ongoing conservatorship battle with her father played out in court.

A judge denied Jamie Spears objections to establishing Bessemer Trust Co as a co-conservator over Britney's estate.

The 39-year-old Grammy winner filed a petition last fall to replace her father as the sole conservator. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny denied the petition.

Instead Jamie will now split the role with an independent financial institution - giving Britney more of a say in her finances.

At Thursday's hearing  Jamie's lawyer, Vivian Thoreen, argued that the new order improperly reduced his powers over his daughter's estate, according to Variety.

Judge Penny ultimately denied Thoreen's objections, ruling that the order should not be amended.

#FreeBritney fans also have renewed hope that one day Britney will have full control over her life and finances.

Her father allegedly has control over what she can spend - with the "...Baby...One More Time" singer reportedly having a curfew.

Britney's lawyer has indicated that he may revisit Britney's request to remove Jamie as conservator entirely, but did not seek to do so on Thursday.

"It's no secret that my client does not want her father as co-conservator, but we recognize that removal is a separate issue,'" attorney Samuel Ingham said.

Bessemer and Jamie are expected to meet to come up with a budget and investment plan for Britney's estate.

Another hearing is scheduled for March 17.

Outside the court dozens of fans gathered holding #FreeBritney signs demanding that the conservatorship be removed.

Jamie was appointed as his daughter's conservator in 2008 following Brit's public breakdown.

However, last year, he stepped aside from the role due to ongoing health issues and his daughter petitioned that he be removed.

Fans were delighted after Britney's father's grip over her finances is slowly loosening.

"Great start! I've got a feeling a lot is going to come out over the coming months! All I hope is she finally gets true happiness and freedom. Also would be interesting to see an investigation as to why she's worth $69million dollars when she has earned over $700million dollars?" one fan wrote.

"I wonder how much her father has siphoned off her estate. Time for an accounting," a second added.

"Good result. The fathers interest is very concerning due to the vast amount of money involved. I wouldn't trust him, and I don't even know him!" a third chimed in.
