When Britney Spears first welcomed her two boys, Sean and Jayden, fans were delighted for her. But as things went downhill in her personal life, it seemed that motherhood wasn't going to be a walk in the park for the starlet.

Nowadays, fans recognize that the troublesome conservatorship that Britney has been under for decades had a direct impact on her ability to mother her sons. But there's one specific event that led to things going downhill, and one common factor that resulted in her not being able to parent her own children.

The Bottom Line? Britney's Dad Ruined Motherhood For Her

While fans may vividly recall Britney Spears' shaving her head and "attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella" back in 2007, those events weren't the only thing that led to her losing custody of her infant sons.

Yes, the star was clearly in need of some help, but now, it's obvious to fans that she never received it. Instead, her children were taken from her, Britney was put under a conservatorship, and later troubles with her father caused her to lose her sons almost entirely.

Fans will remember Britney's claims that she's been unable to have more children because of the conservatorship. But her father Jamie Spears also directly interfered with her ability to mother the kids she already had.

And in 2019, Kevin Federline even filed a restraining order against the boys' grandfather -- highlighting that Jamie was the problem, not Britney.

The Conservatorship Established 50/50 Custody

Eventually, the conservatorship earned Britney 50/50 custody with Kevin. But because Britney's dad controlled the conservatorship, he's the one who had to approve any legal action. And as fans have recently learned, Britney wasn't even able to choose her own legal representation, let alone come to an agreement or specific terms with her ex.

The 2019 scuffle with Jamie Spears also occurred around the time that Kevin Federline asked Britney to increase the child support payments he was receiving. It was also the same year that a court determined Kevin would receive 70 percent custody, and Britney 30.

Now, Britney doesn't see her kids much at all. It's partly because they're growing teens, of course, but also because of the family struggles and legal issues with the conservatorship that controls Britney.

But her sons are helping their famous mom in their own way -- and bringing the truth to light. Kevin reportedly wasn't happy with Jayden's Instagram Story about his mom, where he called his grandfather a bad name, but fans of Britney were in agreement.

When it comes down to it, were it not for Jamie Spears interfering in Britney's life, she likely wouldn't have lost custody of her children during their formative years. Nor would her dad have wasted so much of her net worth...

If Britney had had support from her family, it may have been possible for the star to parent her own kids -- and even have more if she wanted to.
