On Monday morning, K-Pop fans took over Twitter with fans of supergroup BTS starting eight of today's trending topics on the social media platform.

"IT'S CONFIRMED," "IT'S OFFICIAL," "ENGLISH AND KOREAN," and "COLLAB OF THE CENTURY" all quickly gained thousands of tweets after the fans, affectionately referred to as the BTS Army, received some exciting news.

British rock band Coldplay confirmed on their account that the two chart-topping music groups are joining forces for a two-track album to be released on September 24.

The announcement was preceded by a coded message posted on the band's Alien Radio FM page. The short video featured a series of flashing alien "letters" appearing on screen, which when decoded, spelled out the announcement. The alien language, used by the band to promote their upcoming album Music of the Spheres, was decoded back in May after the release of their first single "Higher Power." At the time, the band faced backlash over allegedly copying Lady Gaga's Chromatica aesthetic.

Coldplay followed the cryptic announcement up with a message posted to their website.

"The band has today announced their much-anticipated collaboration with BTS," the statement read. "'My Universe' will be released on September 24th. The track, sung in both Korean and English, was written by Coldplay and BTS and produced by Max Martin."

The announcement continued, "'My Universe' is the second single to be taken from the band's forthcoming album Music of the Spheres."

Max Martin produced the previous Coldplay single "Higher Power", but this will mark BTS' first time working with the Swedish megaproducer who has produced some of pop music's most recognizable melodies.

Although the first collaboration between the two bands, this isn't their first time making headlines together. Just over one year ago, Coldplay opened the iHeart Radio awards in September 2020. BTS then ended the show where they performed their then number one song "Dynamite". The Korean heartthrobs, whose single "Butter" is back at the top of the chart this week, have had three number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 since then, and fans are sure their latest collab will be just as huge.

"The fact the physical edition of My Universe by Coldplay x BTS sold out in less than five minutes… we are getting our first US #1 in thirteen years," wrote one Coldplay fan under the COLLAB OF THE CENTURY tag.

"I can't believe Coldplay only have 1 #1 song on Hot100 but the way they have such magical and incredible discography... I bet this collab debuts at #1 it will be BTS' 6th #1 in over a year and 2nd #1 of Coldplay..." added another hopeful.

Others hoped that soon they will see the two bands perform together.

"Okay so My Universe will be out on the 24th and Global Citizen Live is on the 25th. Coldplay confirmed to be performing at New York, what if it's a surprise that BTS will be there too and that will be their first live together?"

"My Universe" will be released on September 24.
