That's apparently all it takes to generate haters.

The American Idol star has managed to fly under the radar for most of her career, without major drama following her around, but that all changed very quickly when she responded favorably to an anti-masking post made by Conservative commentator, Matt Walsh.

Walsh has long been criticized for his 'dangerous' views and has been accused of spreading misinformation, so when Underwood seemed to support his views, even in the slightest way, it didn't take long before fans turned on her.

Carrie Underwood Picked The Wrong Post

Carrie Underwood responds to a number of social media posts on a regular basis, but she seemed to have picked the wrong one to support this time.

There are many other anti-mask posts online that likely wouldn't have generated this much hate mail for the star, but her support of Matt Walsh is simply too much for fans to ignore. Throughout the pandemic, he has been blogging about Covid not being dangerous, and at one point he went so far as to say that "COVID poses almost no risk to our kids at all."

Walsh has also indicated that forcing children to wear masks is the equivalent of child abuse, and has generated a whole lot of criticism from people who have been affected by the virus, and can tell him with first-hand experience that he's spreading false information.

Carrie Underwood's simple heart emoji sent a signal to her fans that she stands by the brazen comments that Walsh has made, and fans are retaliating.

Memes have begun to circulate, mocking the American Idol star, and she is now being dragged online as being an anti-vaxxer.

Fans Drag Underwood

Fans are dragging Carrie Underwood, claiming that she is part of the dangerous messaging being distributed about the pandemic, and dragging her publicly, diminishing her reputation in the process.

Comments to social media include; "Carrie Underwood being Anti Vaxx....anyways we still stan Kelly Clarkson forever the best winner of American Idol," "Wow, I liked her until now," and "she's so lost, now she's perpetuating the dangers of this pandemic."

The harsh criticism continued by saying; "she has kids, shame on her," and "oh wow, anti-masks, anti-vax, means I am anti-Underwood."

Endless memes have been making their rounds online, dragging the star and pegging her as being an irresponsible person, and as somone that poses a danger to society, as a result of her views.

All this was caused by a singular heart emoji that didn't really indicate full support of Walsh's stance, but perhaps appealed to Underwood in some small way. Underwood has yet to comment on the situation that is unfolding.
