12 Cars She’s Actually Impressed By (And 8 She’s Not)

Making a first impression isn’t always easy – especially when you’re taking a special lady out on a date and want to sell yourself as a suave and sophisticated modern man. There are a thousand and one websites which offer dating advice on how to create the right first impression, but very few of them mention cars.

Perhaps they think that girls aren’t interested in cars, but that’s a very sexist opinion for the 21st century. Women can be keen auto aficionados, and men may have to have to get used to the idea that their date owns a better car than they do! When it comes to car shopping, women take longer than men to come to a decision on which vehicle they want to buy, although they are more interested in practical features than men – who tend to be more concerned about they will look behind the wheel…

So maybe it is time that all those dating advice websites started to include some information about what kind of car a man should drive if he wants to impress the girls, as well as the models he should steer well clear of. Interestingly, while the cars which are deemed to be most attractive to the opposite sex are usually expensive, there are plenty of women out there who have very niche tastes when it comes to cars, including iconic vehicles like the Mini Cooper and Volkswagen Beetle.

20 Impressive - Aston Martin DB11

Via youtube.com

When it comes to cars that are going to impress the girls, you can’t really go far wrong with an Aston Martin. After all, this it is their cars that the super-smooth super-spy James Bond, as played by Daniel Crag, drives in his most recent movies.

And as we all know, there is no woman on earth who can resist 007’s charms! If you really want to push the boat out, treat yourself to a stylish Aston Martin DB11, an exclusive grand tourer. Quality counts for a company like Aston Martin, and CEO Andy Palmer personally inspected and approved the first 1000 Aston Martin DB11 cars ever made.

19 Impressive - Lamborghini Huracan

Via motoringresearch.com

The Aston Martin DB11 is a stunning car but in quite an understated way. It may cost nearly $200,000 but it doesn’t flaunt the fact that it is a car well out of the financial reach of most drivers. The Lamborghini Huracan, on the other hand, screams wealth from its exhaust pipe to its headlights.

This is the kind of car that you drive if you want to impress a crowd of girls on the street, rather than a special someone. This Italian stallion was launched in 2014 and boasts a powerful (and noisy) V10 engine and is even used by the Italian State Police.

18 Impressive - Ferrari Portofino

Via motor1.com

When you think about the greatest Italian car manufacturers it is difficult to look beyond Lamborghini and Ferrari, and the same goes for the kinds of cars which are going to make a good impression on the woman in your life.

There are so many Ferrari models which you could choose from if you are trying to make an impression, including lots of vintage options, but when it comes to cars currently in production, the Ferrari Portofino has to be the best option. Not only is it named after the achingly fashionable Italian resort of Portofino, but it looks every inch the kind of car that would turn heads as you drive past.

17 Impressive - Porsche 911

Via youtube.com

Italy isn’t the only European country that produces unforgettable cars. Porsche is one of the most iconic names in automotive history, and even if you find yourself dating a girl with zero interest in cars, she will still have heard of the German car manufacturer.

If the Porsche name itself is iconic, the company’s most recognizable model is surely the Porsche 911, a sporty little speedster with a long history. The first Porsche 911 was sold in 1963, and the car has undergone various changes and improvements over the years, while still retaining much of the original vehicle’s fantastic style.

16 Impressive - Corvette Z06

Via youtube.com

US motoring fans shouldn’t feel too left out of this beauty parade of eye-catching cars. There are plenty of US-made vehicles that women find just as impressive as their counterparts from across the Atlantic Ocean.

The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is an advanced version of the regular Corvette, which was first made in the 1960s and which has made a triumphant return to the market in the 21st century. The Corvette Z06, in particular, is a gorgeously styled vehicle with a powerful supercharged V8 engine under the hood, and lots of additional design features that you simply don’t get on the basic Corvette model.

15 Impressive - Jaguar E-Type

Via classic-chrome.net

If you want to try and impress the ladies with a vintage car, then one of the most stylish vehicles ever created was the Jaguar E-Type, a sports car built in the UK between 1961 and 1975.

Throughout its 14 years of production, the E-Type changed little in appearance, preferring to stick with its classic and timeless look, rather than moving with the times. And that style still looks good today, almost sixty years later. The E-Type Jag was even voted the most beautiful car ever built by British newspaper The Daily Telegraph – although they could have been a little biased

14 Impressive - Tesla Model S

Via greencarreports.com

Women today aren’t just going to be impressed by a guy who flashes the cash when it comes to the car he buys. A lot of people are concerned about the environmental impacts of the all the vehicles on our roads and increasing numbers of drivers – both male and female – are turning to hybrid and electric cars in a bid to reduce their carbon footprint.

If you find yourself dating a girl with a social conscience, a sure-fire way to win her over is to pick her up in an all-electric Tesla Model S. Not only are you showing that you care about Mother Earth, but the stylish grand tourer also looks and performs much better than most electric competitors.

13 Impressive - Lexus ES

Via autotrader.ca

When it comes to luxury executive cars, it was always big German companies like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz who used to dominate the market. While you’re still going to turn a few heads driving one of their models, one way to stand out from the crowd is to buy your luxury car from Japan.

Lexus is the luxury division of Toyota and has been making high-end executive cars since 1989. The Lexus ES has been around since the company began, but the most recent incarnation is by far the most impressive, offering updated styling and plenty of hi-tech safety features.

12 Impressive - Maserati GranTurismo

Via topspeed.com

Ferrari and Lamborghini may be the first two names that spring to mind when you think of Italian supercars, but you should never rule out Maserati if you are looking to buy a car with the wow factor. The Maserati GranTurismo has been made since 2007 by the Modena-based company, and it oozes style and sophistication.

Despite its very Italian roots, the GranTurismo was devised by Jason Castriota, who has become one of the most famous names in automotive design. At around $120,000 for the most basic model, this is one sexy supercar that is actually within the financial reach of many motorists.

11 Impressive - Dodge Viper

Via carbuzz.com

If you prefer your dream car – and your dream girl – to be more interested in what a car can do than how it looks, then the Dodge Viper might be a better option. Not that the Viper doesn’t look the part; its recent makeover, while keeping the car’s distinctive shape, has brought the vehicle well and truly into the 21st century.

Don’t think that you can buy a cheap 1990s Dodge Viper and that it will have the same impact on the ladies. Not only did the first generation of the Viper look like it had been designed on the cheap, but its performance left a lot to be desired too.

10 Impressive - Bugatti Veyron

Via rmsothebys.com

The Bugatti Veyron is probably one of the most famous supercars in the world, which is reason enough for girls to be impressed if you own one. It is also a clear sign that you have money to burn, as the Bugatti Veyron will set you back a cool $1.7 million for the cheapest model.

For a million-dollar car, the Bugatti Veyron doesn’t really look very good; it is quite bulky for a sports car, and there are several redundant features. What it lacks in looks, however, it more than makes up for in performance, with an impressive top speed of nearly 270mph.

9 Impressive - Ford Mustang GT

Via autotrader.ca

At first glance, it may seem strange to have a car like the Ford Mustang GT on a list of vehicles that are designed to impress women. This is, after all, one of the most powerful muscle cars – not a genre that ladies are generally very interested in! However, there are plenty of female motorists who know their stuff, and they are bound to be impressed by the aggressive styling and throaty engine on your Ford Mustang GT.

Plus, the modern incarnation of this all-time classic has had a few of the rough edges smoothed away, making it a little more socially acceptable than it was back in the 60s and 70s.

8 Not Impressive - Hummer

Via selectjeeps.com

Big isn’t always better, at least when it comes to cars, and one surefire way to upset your date is to arrive in a car which is so high off the ground that she needs help to get in and out of it gracefully. The Hummer sits squarely in that category, while also offering little in the way of style or performance.

Who really thinks that women are going to be impressed by what is basically a knock-off armored personnel carrier? A Hummer is more intimidating than many male drivers realize and is certainly no babe magnet.

7 Not Impressive - Smart ForTwo

Via autotrader.ca

From one of the biggest vehicles, you can drive to one of the smallest; the Smart ForTwo. The tiny car may indeed be a sneaky way of getting intimate with your special someone, but it is a less than impressive set of wheels for a single man to be driving – even if it is practical for city-dwelling bachelors. If you do drive a Smart ForTwo, it's probably a good idea to find a friend who has a more spacious car and borrow it any time you are going on a date.

No woman will appreciate having her outfit folded up in the Smart ForTwo’s tiny front seat.

6 Not Impressive - Chevy Silverado

Via media.chevrolet.com

There are lots of reasons why a car may not impress the ladies, although appearance is probably the number one factor. Like the first impression you make with the way you dress, judgments are going to be made about a guy’s personality when a girl sees his wheels.

And pickups like the Chevy Silverado say just one thing to women; redneck. It is, of course, a completely unfair assumption, especially given the luxurious interiors of many modern pickups, but the days are long gone when it was thought of as cute to pick up your date in your truck and take her to the drive-in…

5 Not Impressive - Volkswagen Beetle

Via autorevolution.com

The Volkswagen Beetle may seem an odd choice to be on the less-than-impressive list. After all, this is a car which is very popular with female motorists, and which has proven to be one of the most enduring vehicles in automotive history. So why is it not a good idea to drive a Beetle if you want to attract the attention of passing ladies?

Precisely because it is a car which is popular among women. Most are going to either assume that there is another girl behind the wheel, or that any man driving a Beetle is batting for the other team!

4 Not Impressive - Fiat Multipla

Via carstyling.ru

There are plenty of cars which are just plain ugly. So ugly that it is a puzzle as to how they ever made it into production, and a real mystery as to why any motorist would even consider buying one. Perhaps these unsightly vehicles offer thrifty motorists the opportunity for a bargain?

That is certainly the only reason why anyone would drive the bad looking Fiat Multipla, a boxy compact MPV which has a bulging windscreen which looks as though it has been added as an afterthought. Production on these abominations ended in 2010, and it is safe to say that few motorists miss them.

3 Not Impressive - Suzuki X90

Via reddit.com

Like the Smart ForTwo, the Suzuki X90 is simply too small to be considered impressive. Likewise, its odd bubble shape is only going to turn heads for all the wrong reasons. Amazingly, this quirky automotive creation is considered an SUV, and it is available with the four-wheel drive that you might need if you were heading off-road.

This is definitely more of a novelty car than one you would actually take on a trip off the beaten track, and unsurprisingly it was only in production for two years between 1995 and 1997 before Suzuki decided to cut their losses and put the X90 out of its misery.

2 Not Impressive - Chevy SSR

Via motor1.com

Suzuki was far from the only car company who fell for the misguided notion that round shapes were the future for motoring. Chevy also worked under the misapprehension that because the Volkswagen Beetle was a success, then any car which copied its distinctive style would go the same way.

Their SSR didn’t just look like a cheap knock-off Beetle, it was described as a convertible pickup – an unusual combination at the best of times, but when you put those two things in the body of a compact car, you are asking for trouble. The Chevy SSR was only in production for three years and has definitely not got better with age.

1 Not Impressive - Nissan Cube

Via autotrader.co.uk

Those in Japan have been responsible for some truly breath-taking technological innovations in recent years, not just in motoring but in many different fields. Sometimes, however, that creativity can go a little too far, and we are left with a car like the Nissan Cube. As the name suggests, this car is literally a box on wheels; anything but aerodynamic, and it looks relly bad.

No stylish bachelor in his right mind would be seen behind the wheel of a Nissan Cube, which is somehow still in production after twenty years, although it is currently only sold on the Japan domestic market.
