Cosplaying is the practice of dressing up like one’s favorite comic character, book character, television show character or movie character.

When it comes to wanting to dress up, a lot of people work months on their costume and getting their makeup just right. They even make sure to add the smallest of details such as a mole, a certain strand of hair in a specific pattern, maybe even an earring or rip in the stocking. They basically embody their character to look like their twin.

Then there are those who lack the talent and just jerry-rig a bunch of stuff together to make a costume that is ALMOST like the real character.

These types of cosplayers either do not fit right in their costumes or just look horrible in them.

Here is a list of 20 people who might be the worst cosplayers ever.

20 Jynx

Ranker & Bulbapedia - Bulbagarden

When the Pokémon Jynx was first introduced, her skin was the color black. Due to her racist appearance though, creators changed her skin color to purple.

According to ranker.com, this girl must have not gotten the memo and decided to embody the original Jynx by painting her skin a dark brown. Although she gets an A for effort, she gets an F for her racist approach on it.

19 Rainbow Dash

Ranker & ABPosters

Rainbow Dash is a major character of the animated series, My Little Pony, who first made her appearance back in 2003.

18 Wolverine

Ranker & Marvel Animated Universe Wiki - Fandom

According to ranker.com, this guy tried to just up as wolverine from the 90s animated series, X-Men: The Animated Series and failed horribly.

We have no idea what he was thinking, but he ended up looking like a banana with a few pieces of cloth pinned to him. Anyone else notice how his superhero underwear doesn't even go all the way around?

17 Kakashi Sensei

Ranker & Facebook

Kakashi Sensei is a character from the anime Naruto, who first made his appearance back in 1999.

According to ranker.com, this guy tried to cosplay Kakashi but ended up not resembling him in the slightest. Not only did he get the clothing and headband wrong, but it looks like he tried to create his hair out of toilet paper.

16 Iron Man

Ranker & Hollywood Reporter

According to ranker.com, this man tried to impersonate Iron Man from the 90s cartoon, Iron Man: The Animated Series.

Although he gets an A for effort, it ended horribly. It almost looks like something a preschooler would do with construction paper and some tape. Is that Christmas bow on his hand supposed to be a laser?

15 Mega Man

Ranker & deviantart.com

According to ranker.com, this guy is trying to be Mega Man from the 90s animated series.

As everyone can see, he failed horribly at it. Towels and some water jugs? He probably would have been more successful with a blue hoodie and some stuffing in the sleeves. Sorry guy, back to the drawing board.

14 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Ranker

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a series that first was released in the late 80s.

According to ranker.com, this group of cosplayers decided to try their luck with cosplaying their favorite band of pizza-eating turtle crime fighters. Unfortunately, just like all the other cosplayers in this article, they failed horribly. How can they even see and where are their shells?

They look more like taped ninjas, to be honest.

13 Star Wars

Ranker

According to ranker.com, this group of gentlemen decided to try their hand at dressing up like Star Wars legends, C3-Po, R2-D2, and Chewbacca.

In the end, though, they failed horribly and looked more like a cloth trash can, a Grizzly Adams look-alike, and something with an oddly shaped head made of plaster.

11 Kirby

Ranker

Kirby, like Sonic, was an animated character that Japan took from a video game and made into a television series called Kirby Right Back at Ya!

According to ranker.com, this guy tried his best to create a costume that looked just like the pink, spherical, childlike creature and he did an OK job, but that face mask has got to go. What was he thinking?

10 Chun Li

Ranker & Sideshow Collectibles

Chun-Li is part of the Street Fighter series and is known as the first female fighter to enter the fighting game franchise.

According to ranker.com, this guy decided to dress up like her and although he got her dress and accessories right, he made the look a little creepy. Add that to the fact the hair and headpiece are wrong and it’s definitely a horrible impersonation.

9 Sailor Moon

Ranker & Newsweek

OK, so this one must be the creepiest of them all.

According to ranker.com, this man chose to dress up like the 90s love and justice crime fighter, Sailor Moon. Although he gets an A for effort, it's definitely a look that does not suit him very well. Some people are just not meant for certain cosplays and this is a prime example.

8 Magneto

Ranker & Comic Vine

According to ranker.com, this man tried to impersonate Magneto from the show X-Men: The Animated Series.

Like many others in this article, he gets an A for effort, but in the end, it was a failed attempt. Between his pajamas and the sheet tied around his neck, he just looks like a little kid trying to play a superhero.

7 Bubbles

Ranker & WallpaperCave

Bubbles is an adorable character from the 90s show The Powerpuff Girls.

According to ranker.com, this gentleman decided to try his luck at cosplaying her. A for effort, but like the guy who dressed like Sailor Moon, it's just creepy. He kind of looks like the robbers from the one episode that dressed up like the girls and go on a bank robbing spree.

4 Captain Planet

Ranker & Animation Magazine

According to ranker.com, this man chose to dress up as Captain Planet from the 90s tv series, Captain Planet and the Planeteers.

Like many others in this article, he gets an A for effort. It’s not quite right though. He looks more like a smurf in tights, then Captain Planet. He looks like he is having a good time though, that’s all that matters.

3 Goku

Ranker & WallpaperCave

Goku is known as the main hero in the 90s show, Dragon Ball Z.

According to ranker.com, this guy tried to cosplay Goku in his Super Saiyan 3 form.

2 Piccolo

Ranker & geek.com

Piccolo is a Namekian from the show 90s show Dragon Ball Z.

According to ranker.com, that is who this guy is trying to cosplay. Not going to lie, this isn’t the worst cosplay we have seen, but it’s still not very good. He does a great job from the neck down, but his ears and antennas are where he loses it.

1 Thor

Ranker & IGN.com
