Here is what you will need for this recipe:

  • One large mouthed vase/ water jug
  • Two cups of ice cubes
  • A handful of basil leaves
  • Half a lemon
  • 4 large strawberries
  • Half a cucumber
  • Water

Start off by washing your fruits and herbs extremely well, this includes your lemon. I recommend washing them under warm water as you will be putting them directly into your water and you don't want to be drinking any harmful chemicals.

Next, prepare your fruit infusion by slicing up your lemon and cucumber into dollar shapes. Remove the leaves from your strawberries and cut them into quarters.

Place all of your fruit and cucumber in the bottom of your vase or jug. Next, fill one-third of your glass vase or jug with ice cubes. When you are ready to serve your fruit water fill up your vase with drinking water and top off your infusion with your basil leaves to give it a nice aroma. I usually let my infusion sit for about five to ten minutes before drinking in order to let the flavour infuse the water.

Now you are ready to enjoy!

While I have chosen a combination of strawberries, cucumber and lemon for my infusion, keep in mind that there are many other great fruit combinations. I often add blueberries to my water, some fresh lime or even watermelon if you are feeling like something with bold flavour. I often opt for at least one citrus fruit in my infusion as I feel it provides a nice refreshing taste and is also packed with vitamins.
