One of the world's most successful luxury fashion houses, Dior was founded in 1946 by French designer Christian Dior who ushered in a revolutionary era for women's clothing, bringing back an almost dead fashion industry to France. Credited for bringing back the typical feminine style and silhouette during a period of wartime fashion, Dior quickly became famous for his glamorous and youthful designs. During the 1950s the western world, Hollywood especially, started embracing Dior's designs putting Paris fashion back on top. Since the French designer's death in 1957, the brand has gone on to work with numerous celebrities and public figures, including Princess Margaret.
