Celebrities are public figures, and with social media being a 21st-century staple, stars are under more public scrutiny than before social media existed. The world can be unkind, and stars aren't judged based on only merit or talent. People criticize stars based on their morals, gaffes, and blunders, but they also critique them based on who they date, what they wear, and their physical appearance. It's safe to say that the public believes that judging every aspect of a celebrity's life is fair game.

Still, in the industry, there seems to be a standard of what is beautiful and what isn't. These celebrities made it clear that they are beautiful no matter what body shamers say and decided to clap back at the people who told them otherwise.

5 Chrissy Teigen

Body shaming works both ways. Stars can be considered too small or too big. Model and wife to John Legend, Chrissy Teigen has faced criticism for not being curvy enough. When she posted a video of herself in a black swimsuit on Instagram, body-shaming trolls proceeded to attack her, one of them comparing her shape to SpongeBob. Another troll even took things as far as to say that her husband had to be cheating. She responded by saying that everyone is used to surgically-enhanced curves and that her square-shaped body has helped her in many ways. In a now-deleted tweet, she continued to say that she and John are happy and everything is A-Okay.

Her response was posting a meme of Gucci mane, stating that "if you can't handle me at 2007 Gucci mane, you don't deserve me at my 2017 Gucci mane." The response was light-hearted and clever but feminist with the underlying implication that men rarely have to defend their bodies.

However, she has also taken time to debunk the myth that curvier women don't work out by showing exercise videos on TikTok and her diet. While Lizzo may not always be happy with her body, like millions of others, she has always made it clear that her purpose isn't to be the ideal body type.
