Sometimes celebrities are just like us. There are plenty of celebrities out there that have gone to college before they were famous and many of them have joined Greek life during their college years. Joining Greek life, like fraternities, is a great way for students to get involved, as well as make friends. Many people have enjoyed their time in Greek life and still connect with these sororities and fraternities way after college.

There are quite a few big named celebrities who spent their college years immersed in Greek life. Many actors, singers, and athletes were once in fraternities, and still are very involved with them today. From Ashton Kutcher to Steve Harvey and Luke Bryan, it's not uncommon for these celebs to have spent their college days in a frat.

10 Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher got into acting when he was young, and for that reason, people might not realize that he actually went to college. Not only did Ashton attend the University of Iowa, but he was also pretty smart too as he studied biochemical engineering. During his time at the university, Ashton decided that he wanted to get involved with Greek life and joined a fraternity. Therefore, he went out and rushed Delta Chi, where he was a member during his college years, and still talks about the experience today.

9 Jerry Rice

Jerry Rice is an iconic football player that was also inducted into the Hall of Fame. Before he became a famous football star, he went to Mississippi Valey State University from 1981 to 1984 where he slowly emerged as an amazingly talented football player. While he was in school, he decided that he was going to rush a fraternity, and as a result, pledged Phi Beta Sigma.

Despite the fact that he went on to be one of the most famous and successful professional NFL players, he still fondly looks back at his college days and had great memories of his time in Phi Beta Sigma. Joining a frat definitely sticks with you, even after all those years. It just goes to show you how much of an impact that pledging a fraternity can have!

8 Jim Parsons

Jim Parsons has gone on to have a very successful career as an actor. You might remember him as Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory. On the show, Sheldon wasn't much of a fraternity guy, as he was so focused on science and comic books. However, in real life, Jim did pledge a fraternity. Jim attended the University of Houston and while attending school he rushed Pi Kappa Alpha. Jim is one of their most famous frat brothers and they're proud to have him as a brother.

7 Drew Carey

Drew Carey is another celebrity who pledged a fraternity when he was in college. He attended Kent State University where he decided that he was going to rush Delta Tau Delta. Although he enjoyed his time with the fraternity, he wound up being expelled twice for poor academic performance and eventually left Kent State University altogether.

When he left, he then decided that he was going to enlist into the United States Marine Corps Reserve where he would serve for six years as a field radio operator. Eventually, he decided that he was going to follow his dreams and become a stand-up comedian, and we all know how well that wound up working out for him!

6 Shaquille O'Neal

Famed basketball star Shaquille O'Neal is yet another famed athlete that was in a fraternity when he was in college. While he was at Louisiana State University, he decided that he wanted to pledge Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Omega Psi Phi is one of the oldest African-American fraternities, as it's been around since 1911, and Shaq is proud to be a part of the brotherhood that is the fraternity. Shaq reflected fondly about his days in the frat, as he enjoyed the brotherhood aspect of being in the frat, and that he enjoyed that aspect of it.

5 Steve Harvey

There are a couple of celebrities who have wound up in the same fraternity and didn't even know it. For example, Shaquille O'Neal isn't the only celebrity in the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, as Steve Harvey is also a part of the very same brotherhood. As we know, the fraternity is one of the oldest African-American frats out there today and is full of other successful members, with Steve being one of them. Just like Shaq, Steve is also very proud to be a member of Omega Psi Phi and speaks highly of his time there.

4 Thomas Rhett

Country singer Thomas Rhett was also once a part of a fraternity. While he was in school he decided that he was going to pledge Tau Phi, and he was definitely glad that he did. Whenever he would attend the fraternity's crazy parties he would oftentimes perform live at them, giving them a Thomas Rhett concert before he became the famous Thomas Rhett that we know and love today. Thomas must've had a lot of fun at those frat parties as he still fondly looks back on them today.

3 Luke Bryan

Country superstar Luke Bryan was also once a part of a fraternity. Back when he was a student at Georgia Southern University, he pledged Sigma Chi Fraternity where he had some of the best years. If you listen closely to his music, some could argue that his songs have a bit of a frat boy party vibe to them, and that could be because he fronted bands that often performed at these big parties back in the day. Luke liked to party in his college days, and he even met his wife back then too.

2 Blair Underwood

Actor Blair Underwood is yet another Hollywood figure who was once in a fraternity. While he was in school, Blair decided that he was going to pledge and eventually he became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He's still involved with his fraternity, as he gave a keynote speech in Ohio when he met with his frat brothers. Because he was still so involved in giving back to them, they gave him a gift of a fraternity tie bar as well as cuff links.

1 Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey is another celebrity who was once a part of a fraternity. While Matthew was in school, he made the very easy decision that he was going to pledge Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Matthew claimed that it was a very easy decision to join the fraternity, as he found himself hanging out with a lot of the guys who were already in the frat. Therefore, things came naturally to him, and that it felt right to join. He loved the friendships that he was making, and everything felt right and easy.
