There’s always some kind of celebrity feud going on, but not all of them are what they seem. While some of them might be real, quite a few of them seem to be publicity stunts to reach more fans and make more money. Faking a public fight to make more money might sound pretty bad, but it’s not all bad. A couple celebrities faked their feuds to raise money for charity and another feud led to an important conversation about mental health.

Whatever the case is, the celebrity feuds that everyone talked about probably never happened. From Katy Perry and Lady Gaga to Chris Hemsworth and Ryan Reynolds, here are 10 celebrity feuds that are completely fake.

10 Madonna And Lady Gaga

Madonna and Lady Gaga are both legendary pop stars that have been creating music for decades, especially Madonna. But they might have used each other to gain even more fame. “Madonna called Lady Gaga's ‘Born This Way’ reductive during a national news interview with 20/20, pretty much teaching a vocab word to a generation of fans. There seemed to be a lot of frostiness between the ladies in the media. Gaga even told Howard Stern that she believed Her Madgesty wanted Gaga to be bummed out over the fact that Madonna didn't like her,” according to Nicki Swift. It seems like their feud was fake since they were hanging out together with designer, Alexander Wang, at the 2015 Met Gala and Madonna posted pictures with Lady Gaga on Instagram after that.

9 Britney Spears And Christina Aguilera

Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera are two more iconic pop stars that have been famous for years. They both started their careers as child stars around the same time. Everyone wanted them to be enemies since they’ve pretty much been competing against each other their whole lives, but that isn’t the case. According to OK, Christina said, "I am a huge supporter of her in light of the fact that both of our careers started off together and are still going and going strong."

8 Beyonce And Shakira

No one can replace Beyonce or Shakira. These two are masters at singing and just being pop stars overall, but their fans thought they wouldn’t get along. “The dynamite divas did a duet in the form of ‘Beautiful Liar,’ and there were rumors that they filmed their scenes for the song's video separately due to the tension. Bey pretty much nixed that nonsense, telling Latina that she and Shak taught each other stuff while working together and things were beyond fine,” according to Nicki Swift. Beyonce said that Shakira was great to work with and “there was no negativity or competitive energy, just love and respect."

7 Selena Gomez And Justin Bieber

Selena Gomez and Justin Beiber were known as “Jelena” for most of the 2010s until they officially called it quits in 2019. “After the teen pop power couple split, she joked on David Letterman that she made the Biebs cry. It was a cute, sweet, in-the-moment, and ultimately lighthearted jab on a late night talk show. Even so, the media interpreted it as Gomez taking down her first love on national TV, trying to make it out to be way more than it was,” according to Nicki Swift. Selena and Justin never fought about the comment she made on the show, but they both have sang about each other in their songs.

6 Chris Hemsworth And Ryan Reynolds

Chris Hemsworth and Ryan Reynolds’ “feud” might look real, but the two of them making fun of each other is just them playing around and trying to get people’s attention to raise money. According to AceShowbiz, “Supporting the AGBO superhero fantasy football league to benefit charity, some MCU actors have been trading insults for the past few months to drum up the fundraising effort. The Proposal actor initiated the ‘beef’ with the Thor depicter by enlisting his mom to trash talk the Aussie hunk. The Avengers star then retaliated by enlisting his ‘dad,’ costume designer Dan Blacklock, to call out the husband of Blake Lively as a ‘d**khead’ and the ‘least favorite Canadian in the whole world.’”

5 Sinead O'Connor And Miley Cyrus

What was originally (possibly) an insult turned into an important conservation. According to Nicki Swift, “The ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ singer penned an open letter on her website about how Cyrus was a pawn in the Hollywood game and that she was letting the biz ‘prostitute her.’ Cyrus then questioned O'Connor's mental state on Twitter, leading to more angry letters that pop music's wild child pretty much ignored. Things eventually blew over, with O'Connor even saying that she and Cyrus had managed to spark a national conversation about mental health.” Miley barely reacted to Sinead's comments and it turned into a nice conversation anyway, so it doesn’t seem like they had much of a fight.

4 50 Cent And Kanye West

50 Cent and Kanye West’s “feud” was nothing more than a publicity stunt. According to Nicki Swift, “The rappers released albums—Yeezy's Graduation and Fitty's Curtis—on the same day in 2007, making it seem like the perfect foundation for a feud. But a fake battle between the two was likely staged to create promotion and publicity for both albums. It was actually a brilliant marketing ploy more than anything.” A lot of musicians in the same genre do this so more people will know about their new albums and buy them.

3 Katy Perry And Lady Gaga

In summer 2013, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga both released their new hit singles, “Roar” and “Applause,” in the same week. Everyone thought they would have a fight because of it, but nothing bad ever happened between them. Lady Gaga told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, "We both just happened to want to put our singles out within a week of each other. And it's not necessarily convenient for everyone and may be a little bit awkward...but we don't need to force-feed this negativity into it until everyone explodes...I really like Katy Perry and I like her fans."

2 Dwayne Johnson And Kevin Hart

Dwayne and Kevin’s “feud” might be the most hilarious one that ever happened. The two are pretty much best friends and prank each other all the time. “Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart developed a close bond after they starred together in 2016's Central Intelligence, followed by Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and its sequel. While the former wrestler once raved about their chemistry on and offscreen, they have since replaced their praises for each other with online trolling,” according to AceShowbiz. Dwayne and Kevin still prank each other every chance they get—they leave sarcastic comments on their posts and constantly Photoshop goofy memes of each other.

1 Adam Lavine And Blake Shelton

Pretty much every fan of The Voice knows about all of the fake feuds between coaches, Adam Lavine and Blake Shelton. “Though they sometimes showed affectionate gestures, the two musicians didn't hesitate to kill each other's characters to win the heart of a contestant on the singing competition series. They even take their friendly banters offscreen, which continues to go on after the Maroon 5 frontman quit as a coach on the show,” according to AceShowbiz. Even after Adam left The Voice, Blake still sometimes insults the former coach, but he’s always joking when he does. The two singers making fun of each other might have been just to get more viewers on the show. We’ll never know for sure, but it’s definitely entertaining.
