Many celebrities have side hustles. When you have the amount of time and spare capital that celebrities do, it's only natural to pursue a passion project or two. For some stars, that passion is wine. Winemaking is a popular hobby for many people, but some are so into it that they invest in a full vineyard and venture into the wine business.
Stars like Nina Dobrev, Mary J. Blige, and the legendary director Francis Ford Coppola have all become successful winemakers. According to wine experts who write for publications like Wine Magazine, Decanter, and the general public on Google, these are some of the best celebrity wine labels. No wine or vineyard on this list has less than 4 stars.
10 Nina Dobrev Fresh Vine Wines - 4 Stars
Nina Dobrev started her vineyard, Fresh Vine Wines, with her friend Julianne Hough. Their label is unique compared to most other wine labels, not just because it is owned by a movie star but because it is marketed as a "low calorie, low carb" wine. The label sells a cabernet sauvignon, a pinot noir, a chardonnay, a rose, and a limited release from the 2019 grape harvest.
9 Mary J. Blige's Sun Goddess Wines - 4 Stars
The singer-songwriter started her wine label between 2020 and 2021. Even though the market and supply chain has been complicated for many businesses because of the Covid pandemic, Blige has been successfully marketing her line of Sun Goddess wines. Sun Goddess offers a rose, several fruit wines, and white wines. Among all the rosé under the brand, the best-reviewed is the Sun Goddess sauvignon blanc, which is a type of white wine that balances sweet and dry flavors.
8 Post Malone's Maison No. 9 - 4 Stars
When people think about wine, they do not usually think of a rapper with notoriously bizarre hair and face tattoos. But Post Malone has always been one to defy expectations and he proved to the world he can make a decent wine with Maison No. 9. The label only makes a rose, but it has incredible reviews on the Total Wine store website, Wine Magazine, and Google where reviewers give it nearly 5 stars.
7 John Legend's LVE - 4 Stars
John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen have indulged in many culinary ventures. Teigen is a popular home cook who shares recipes with the world regularly, and John Legend can bring the wine to dinner. Legend started a wine label called LVE which produces red wines and sparkling white wines. The best-reviewed wines are LVE's cabernet sauvignon and the sparkling rose.
6 Francis Ford Coppola's Sofia - 4.5 Stars
The director of The Godfather opened his vineyard which sits in the heart of Northern California's famous wine country. The label produces a wide variety of wines, mostly traditional reds. However, one wine has particularly high reviews, Coppola Wine's Sofia, the label's rosé wine. The wine is named after his daughter, Sofia Coppola, who followed in her father's footsteps to also become a famous director.
5 Jay-Z's Armand De Brignac - 4.5 Stars
The rapper is a famous entrepreneur. In the early 2000s, he took his first step into the alcohol business with a line of vodkas. Since then, Jay-Z has ventured into several other businesses, and among the best-reviewed of his products is the Armand De Brignac, a prestige champagne. Be forewarned, it does have incredible reviews but it is very expensive, on average it costs $300 per bottle.
4 Dwayne Wade - Wade Cellars 4 - 4.5 Stars
The former NBA star from the Miami Heat started his wine label around 2015. Wade cellars has since grown into a successful venture with many well-reviewed wines. On average, each of his wines has between 4 stars and 4.5 stars. Wade charges between $30 to $50 per bottle.
3 Kurt Russell Gogi Wines - 5 Stars
Kurt Russell became a winemaker when he bought a vineyard with his partner, Goldie Hawn. The two founded Gogi Wines together and their pinot noir has a score of over 90% on Wine Magazine's website and is ranked just barely under 5 stars.
2 Guy Fieri - Hunt And Ryde Wines - 5 Stars
Although Guy Fieri gets some flack for over-charging for his wine, the label is a sentimental thing for the chef. The label is named after his two sons and Guy produces a long series of reds and whites that he has referred to as "bomb-ass." Considering the great reviews his wines get, it would seem critics agree.
1 Sting - Sister Moon - 5 Stars
Among all the celebrity winemakers, one of the most successful has got to be Sting. Sting has an extensive vineyard at his Tuscan estate, Il Palagio. Tuscany is a famously pristine area for growing wine grapes and the Police frontman takes advantage of this fact. Among his many wines, one has the privilege of being listed as one of Italy's finest wines. Sister Moon is a red blend that costs nearly $50 per bottle.
