Celebrities who welcome children into the world tend to keep their newborn's name and face a secret, especially on social media, and some stars even go as far as hiding the identity of the baby's father. Surprisingly, numerous A-list celebs have managed to keep quiet about their baby's father for quite some time and are happy to keep it that way.
Even celebrities have their reasons for keeping the father of their children a secret from the rest of the world. Whether they want to keep away from the harsh criticisms of the media or just want some part of their life to stay private, stars like Mindy Kaling and Minnie Driver have remained very quiet about their baby daddies.
10 Mindy Kaling
Mindy Kaling has kept the father of both her children, Katherine and Spencer a secret. Many people have speculated for quite some time that the father of her children was her on-screen love interest B.J. Novak from The Office, but Kaling has clarified that Novak is the godfather to both her kids.
It does appear that Kaling is raising her two kids as a single mother. During her commencement speech to graduated at Dartmouth University, she referred to her being a single mom. "According to movies and TV, this is traditionally the time when my mother and spouse are supposed to be here, sharing this experience with me. And I look around, and I had neither. And for a moment, it was kind of scary. Like, 'Can I do this by myself?'"
9 January Jones
When Mad Men actress January Jones welcomed her son Xander in 2011, the media had a frenzy as to who exactly the father was. Jones even joked that actor Bradley Cooper was the father of her child after insisting that he looked like him. However, it remains a mystery and Jones wants to keep it that way.
When speaking with The Edit in 2013, Jones stated, "It's not something the public needs to know. I knew I would be raising my son alone. It was something I went into knowingly. I was prepared mentally, and I was excited about it."
8 Mia Farrow
Mia Farrow gave people second thoughts when she hinted in an interview with Vanity Fair that the father of her son Ronan was actually Frank Sinatra and not her ex-husband Woody Allen. Farrow was married to Sinatra from 1966-1968, but many speculate that she may have had a relationship with him in the '80s while she was with Allen, the same time period her son was born.
Ronan Farrow is a well-respected journalist, and while there have been no DNA testing to prove that Ronan's father is Sinatra and not Allen, he does appear to have similar traits to the singer. However, Sinatra's daughter Tina, claimed her father underwent a vasectomy before Ronan was born.
7 Lauryn Hill
Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley, the son of Bob Marley, have five children together, but in July 2011, Hill gave birth to her sixth child, a son named Micah, whom she cryptically revealed was not Rohan's son.
At the time that Hill gave birth to her son, it appeared that she and Marley were no longer together according to Marley. During a Twitter exchange with a reporter from the Houston Chronicle, when asked if Marley was no longer married to Hill and if her baby son wasn't in fact his, he replied, "That is correct until I say out of my mouth to the contrary." While it isn't certain who the father is, according to CNN, Hill has called her son "Baby Boy Marley."
6 Geri Halliwell
Geri Halliwell a.k.a Ginger Spice, the former member of '90s pop group Spice Girls refused to tell the media and her fans who the father of her daughter Bluebell was. According to Madamenoire, Halliwell has actually never revealed the father of her daughter, who was born in May 2006, and will likely never tell.
However, the media loves to do their own investigating and believes the father is screenwriter Sacha Gervasi, with who the Spice Girl supposedly had a short six-week relationship in 2005.
5 Alexis Knapp
Alexis Knapp is known for her roles in movies like Pitch Perfect and Project X and is also known to have dated actor Ryan Phillippe. The pair dated briefly during the summer of 2010 and after they split, the actress found out that she was pregnant.
Knapp gave birth to her daughter Kailani Knapp in July 2011 and during that time, did not reveal who the father was. Of course, all eyes were on Phillippe since the two just called it quits and a few months later, TMZ later obtained a copy of Kailani's birth certificate which listed her name as Kailani Phillippe-Knapp. It was also revealed that Phillippe was present when Knapp gave birth to her daughter.
4 Padma Lakshmi
Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi was told she could not get pregnant because of her endometriosis, however, she became pregnant and welcomed a daughter named Krishna in February 2010, and had no intention of naming the father.
Shockingly, in her memoir, Love, Loss, and What We Ate, Lakshmi did not know who the father was at the time. She did not know if it was billionaire CEO Teddy Frostman, who passed away in 2011, or Adam Dell, brother of Dell Computer founder Michael Dell. After a paternity test, it was confirmed Dell was the father. The two would have a nasty custody battle but have now made peace.
3 Camryn Manheim
The Practice star Camryn Manheim welcomed a son two days after her 40th birthday named Milo and told the press that she had used a sperm donor and was raising her son as a single mother.
However, rumors were swirling that Milo's father is gay actor Jeffrey Brezovar, who is also Manheim's very close friend. He was also present at the birth of her son and at the time stated, "Camryn is the happiest I've ever seen her, and I've seen her happy at many moments." When he was asked if he had a part of the pregnancy, Brezovar stated, "I have an agreement not to speak."
2 Minnie Driver
In 2008, actress Minnie Driver confirmed that she had given birth to a baby boy named Henry, but left out the part of who the father of her son was. It wasn't until four years later that the subject came up again and Driver finally revealed who Henry's dad was.
In an interview for The Observer, Driver confirmed that the father was one of the writers for The Riches Timothy J. Lea and said, "I don't need to protect him anymore. He can fend for himself. He's a grown-up. We weren't together and he wasn't directly in the business so I chose to protect him and not have a rain of publicity."
1 Linda Evangelista
Billionaire Frenchman Francois-Henri Pinault had a busy couple of years when he became the father of supermodel Linda Evangelista's son Augustin James who was born in October 2006, and soon after, had a child with actress and fiance Salma Hayek named Valentina Paloma in September 2007.
Evangelista kept the father of her son a secret for some time until she took him to court and it was revealed that the Kering CEO was indeed the father. The model and billionaire settled out of court in 2012, and he is currently married to Hayek.
