When people think of Hollywood celebrities they think of the glitz and glam her. It is easy to think of wealth, riches, and money when one thinks about famous celebrities who starred in movies and TV shows.

In reality, a lot of these celebrities have actually overcome difficult struggles in the past before reaching high levels of success and fame. Some celebrities have actually dealt with the challenge of homelessness.

10 Halle Berry

When Halle Berry was only 21 years old, she lived in a homeless shelter. She opened up about it a few years ago and let the world know about previous struggles that she faced before becoming an Oscar-winning actress. She was trying to break into showbiz and reach higher levels of success but everyone knows that becoming successful in Hollywood is not an easy feat to accomplish. She was able to figure things out and make it work.

9 Phil McGraw AKA Dr. Phil

Back in 2009, Dr. Phil revealed that he dealt with homelessness struggles the summer before he became a teenager. He revealed that he was living in Kansas City in a car with his father. They were able to stay at a five-dollar room at the downtown YMCA until they could save up the money they needed to put a deposit down on a one-bedroom apartment. The apartment they moved into didn’t have electricity, running water, air conditioning, or a heating system.

8 Daniel Craig

When Daniel Craig was 15 years old, he was totally broke. He moved to London in order to study the art of acting in the mid-80s without any support or help. He earned money working part-time and restaurants to feed himself but at the end of the day when Work was over, he would have to find park benches to fall asleep on. Now that he has made it as an actor, he donates money to numerous charities in order to give back to people who are in the situation he was in before.

7 Chris Pratt

Before Chris Pratt became a well-known actor that everyone knows and loves to do with a net worth of $60 million, he was actually homeless. He moved to Hawaii when he was 19 years old and was unable to afford a place to live. He started living out of a van by the beachside and trying to save money working at different jobs on the island that only paid him minimum wage.

6 Jewel

Jewel admitted that when she was a child, she was homeless. She would rely on stealing in order to get by and she often felt like an outcast around other people. She has spoken up about what homelessness was like for her several times. Before she was able to make it as a singer, she took on a regular job and ended up getting fired because she refused to hook up with her boss after he pressured her to. She also revealed that her father suffered from PTSD and acted out in abusive ways surrounding his alcoholism.

5 Halsey

Halsey is an extremely strong individual who overcame homelessness when she was a teenager. At one point, she said that she considered engaging in illegal activities in exchange for financial compensation in order to get by. She found herself homeless while living in New York City after her parents kicked her out since she did not want to pursue further education. She made the public claim that her homelessness situation did not mean her parents didn’t love her.

4 Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is a hilarious comedian and actor who overcame homelessness, as shocking as it might sound. When he was 12 years old, his father became unemployed.

Unfortunately, they had to move into a van because they were not able to afford the place that they were living in before. Now that Jim Carrey has become such a successful Hollywood figure, he has a net worth of $150 million.

Michael Oher is an NFL player who primarily played the professional sport with the Baltimore ravens. His position on the field? Offensive tackle! Before he was able to succeed as a football player, he dealt with a lot of childhood struggles and one of those struggles included homelessness. He was a witness to patterns of drug abuse, physical violence, and more. It is so amazing and wonderful that he was able to break out of that cycle

Steve Harvey is a hilarious and brutally honest Hollywood figure who is loud and proud about his opinions. If he thinks something about someone, he speaks up and says it! These days he has an estimated net worth of around $160 million which is extremely impressive since he found himself facing homelessness for a few years in the 1980s. Obviously, he is very far from his days of homelessness or financial struggles.

When it comes to inspirational actresses in the Hollywood industry, Hilary Swank definitely lands on a lot of people’s lists. She was once homeless and living out of a car. She and her mom were able to stay in a friend’s home at night but they had to bring their own air mattresses since the home was unfurnished. She overcame homelessness in a magnificent way.
