Ever since The Big Bang Theory debuted in 2007, the show has been immensely popular with loads of people. A massive ratings hit throughout its twelve-season run, TBBT continues to garner a sizable viewing audience now that it solely airs in reruns. On top of that, there are no obvious indications that the show’s ongoing popularity will wane in the immediate future.

Since The Big Bang Theory has enjoyed so much success, it is extremely obvious that most of the show’s actors are very happy to be associated with the series. After all, The Big Bang Theory’s stars got rich during the show’s initial run and they continue to rake in money from its reruns. On top of that, many actors were made internationally famous due to their TBBT roles and they continue to ride the momentum their careers gained as a result. Despite all of the reasons why most actors would have loved to be a part of The Big Bang Theory, there is one famous performer who regrets their involvement in the sitcom.

Actor Connection

When The Big Bang Theory premiered on CBS in 2007, there was no way to know that the show would go on to enjoy so much success. After all, in decades past, a show about a bunch of nerdy guys and their beautiful neighbor likely wouldn’t have gotten much traction. Fortunately for all involved, The Big Bang Theory had a huge advantage, it began airing after the immensely popular show Two and a Half Men.

Since The Big Bang Theory got off the ground in large part because many Two and a Half Men viewers decided to sample the freshman series, Charlie Sheen has taken some credit for its success. It is hard to deny that makes a certain level of sense, especially since The Big Bang Theory included a Two and a Half Men reference in one episode. On top of that, Sheen made a TBBT cameo appearance in the fourth episode of The Big Bang Theory’s second season, “The Griffin Equivalency”.

Sheen Speaks Out

In 2013, Charlie Sheen took part in an interview with The Guardian roughly two years after he was fired from Two and a Half Men. In the wide-ranging conversation, a lot of different topics were brought up including Sheen's regrets about his involvement with The Big Bang Theory.

Before bringing up The Big Bang Theory, Charlie Sheen talked about his belief that he should have made more money from Two and a Half Men. Next, Sheen transitioned the conversation to his belief that The Big Bang Theory succeeded due to the Two and a Half Men lead-in so he should have been financially rewarded for that too. "You gotta think about the shows that my show launched. I should have added in a clause that said anything that uses me as a lead-in, cut me in.”

From there, Charlie Sheen expressed his very negative opinion of The Big Bang Theory. “I'm sorry, but Big Bang Theory is a piece of s**t – it's a stupid show and it's just lame, about lame people. I like the kids in it, but that show without us as a lead-in is… goodbye.

Real Motivation?

When looking at the fact that Charlie Sheen wants to take credit for The Big Bang Theory’s success, his distaste for the sitcom, and his regrets about not being paid for the show, his comments seem sincere. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t reasons to think that his opinions are colored by the fact that Sheen can’t stand The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre.

During Charlie Sheen’s eight-season run as the star of Two and a Half Men, he worked closely with that show’s co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre. Unfortunately for everyone involved, Sheen has since made it very clear that he really, really doesn’t like Lorre. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter why Sheen is so angry at Lorre when considering why Charlie may have such a bad taste in his mouth when it comes to The Big Bang Theory. Instead, the thing to keep in mind is that in the same interview in which Charlie expressed his negative opinion about The Big Bang Theory, Sheen went on to say some harsh things about Lorre.

Immediately after Charlie Sheen spoke about The Big Bang Theory in very colorful terms, he immediately brought up Chuck Lorre. “I'm rooting for those kids, because I know who they're dealing with. The fact that they're still sane is crazy. You know? He's a bad man.” From there, Sheen went on to blame Lorre for the problems that several people connected to Two and a Half Men have dealt with. "Look what happened to Angus (T Jones), man. Look what happened to me, look what happened to Melanie Lynskey, who's getting divorced. That show devoured like 12 marriages."

Based on the fact that Charlie Sheen’s TBBT comments were immediately followed by his Chuck Lorre rant, it is reasonable to assume that they are connected. Of course, Sheen is the only way who could definitely confirm that theory but the evidence is very strong.
