Chase Stokes of Outer Banks has a new health regimen, all thanks to his girlfriend Madelyn Cline. He sat down with ET Canada to discuss why he switched over to a vegan lifestyle.

It's less about Cline asking him to try it out and more about his respect for her lifestyle. He's having a great time without animal products.

A New Grocery List

"I've always been one who has never shied away from trying anything," Stokes explained, "Whether it be skydiving, or scuba diving, or changing my diet up a little bit. It just felt like a fun little challenge."

Then came ET viewers' sighs from Stokes' sweet description of his love for Cline.

"When you really love somebody and you're in a committed relationship, you want to make sure that they feel comfortable in their own skin. Having plant protein in my diet, especially on days like that where meat can make you lethargic and slow you down."

The actor sees the plant-based protein as a 'game-changer" for long days onset, beginning at 5, 3, or even 2 AM.

"I think it's helped me performance-wise, in a lot of those physical moments that were happening in Season 1. We'll see what happens in Season 2."

He and Cline have partnered with Sweet Earth Foods. The company offers vegan and vegetarian foods, including plant-based "Chik'n Apple Sausage" and "Cauliflower Mac."

Finding A Home With 'Outer Banks'

Stokes may be a more sentimental guy than his fictional character John B. He told ET how he's felt welcomed into peoples' homes and arms since Outer Banks became a Netflix hit.

"In any profession, you're constantly striving for people to appreciate your work. Especially in this industry where there's so much content, so many things out and available for the world."

Now, Stokes has gained new vegan fans who might decide to tune into Season 2.

One YouTube commenter wrote, "I applaud you Chase! I'm 62 years old and I became vegan over 27 years ago after realizing the horrific environmental damages that factory farming, animal agriculture, and the immoral inhumanity of ''sport hunting'' has caused around the globe."

The support will give Stokes a sense of comfort, as he's been open about his struggle with anxiety and feeling weighing amounts of pressure to deliver.
