Like many other Hollywood actors, Brad Pitt had a hard time landing roles when he first started his career. After moving to Los Angeles, Pitt decided to take lessons from acting coach Roy London. This proved to be a good choice because soon enough, the young actor started landing small roles in films and television.

In 1987, Pitt made his television debut in a two-episode role on NBC’s soap opera Another World. That same year, he landed a guest appearance on CBS’s sitcom Trial and Error and ABC’s popular sitcom Growing Pains. He also landed some small, uncredited roles in films like No Way Out (1987), No Man's Land (1987), and Less than Zero (1987).

However, Pitt’s breakthrough role came until the early 90s when he appeared in Ridley Scott's Oscar-winning movie Thelma & Louise (1991). In his book, Callback, Greenberg revealed that he had only one note following Pitt’s audition, and it wasn’t positive. The casting director admits having thought that Pitt just was not funny enough “for the part, he wasn’t funny — he’s been funny since.”
