Cheesecake Factory is giving away free food to 10,000 hungry customers, although we're not sure about the choice of day for the promotion.

At the time of typing this, tomorrow is April Fools' Day. The day might even be upon us by the time you're reading this. Although the prank-centric holiday has been a staple of our society for a long time, the ascension of the internet has made it even more prevalent. Social media and the like has allowed us to go from pranking our friends at work to companies jokingly pulling the wool over the eyes of thousands.

If you're aware that it's April 1, it can be hard to distinguish what's a joke and what isn't on your Facebook feed. Even before social media, all the way back in 1957, BBC managed to convince thousands that spaghetti trees were a real thing via a faux news report. The struggle to believe anything we're told on April 1 is why the timing of Cheesecake Factory's latest promotion might not be ideal.

The popular chain of restaurants is offering $25 of free food to 10,000 of its customers, reports Thrillist. We're assuming that's $25 each and not one gift card split between 10,000 people. The event will begin at 4 pm on April 1. That should be proof enough that this isn't a joke since tradition dictates April Fool's pranks should not be pulled after midday.

Now for the all-important part, how to get your hands on some of this free food. Firstly, it is only available to customers who are ordering in via DoorDash. The offer will go live at 4 pm on April 1 at thecheesecakefactory.com/promo and will work on a first come, first served basis. The first 10,000 people who claim it will then get $25 to spend on their Cheesecake Factory offer.

Aside from the prospect of free food, the best thing about the offer is that you don't have to use it right away. Once you've successfully claimed it, you can use your $25 at any point between April 1 and April 7. A smart move that will prevent Cheesecake Factories being overwhelmed with orders tomorrow evening. Plus, if you do miss out on the offer, DoorDash is offering free delivery on all of its Cheesecake Factory orders all week long, so you can still order an extra slice via the money you save on delivery.
