Cher has shared some long-anticipated news with her fans ahead of her 75th birthday today (May 20): her biopic is reportedly in the works at Universal Pictures.

The Strong Enough singer will serve as co-producer, alongside Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman. The producer duo is known for being behind the movie adaptations of Mamma Mia!, including Here We Go Again, released in 2018 and starring Cher, Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, and Lily James.

It is unclear whether the biopic will focus on a specific phase of Cher’s nearly sixty-year-long career. As some fans are pointing out that they had been waiting for a biopic for decades, Cher had the most iconic one-liner to explain the reason why the movie is only being made now.

Spanning six decades, Cher’s career has seen her selling more than 100 million records as well as putting her acting skills to the test in films such as Mermaids and Moonstruck, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1988.

The singer took to her social media on May 20 to announce the exciting news in her characteristic all-caps Twitter style.

“Ok Universal is Doing Biopic With My Friends JUDY CRAYMER,GARY GOETZMAN PRODUCING,” Cher wrote on May 20.

Some fans think her biopic was long-overdue, but the singer had the most amazing response for those who were impatient.

“I have been waiting for this since I was 15! It only took 50 years! When will it be done?” a fan commented on the biopic announcement.

"I Had More life to Live,” Cher simply replied.
