Cher shared her lingering, intense guilt over her wrongly worded tweet about George Floyd. She expressed her deepest regrets over Twitter again, and her fans comforted her with kind words.

The singer explained that she's looked inwardly and that some emotions can't be properly articulated over social media.

Her Apology

Cher tweeted, "These last days have been Hard,Soul Searching, Painful Ones. My Wording Was Wrong/Imprecise. When I’m Over-emotional I Should Wait, Walk Away, Then Twt."

The tweet continued her intent to think before tweeting going forward, "I Felt Sorrow,& Did Wish I Could have Helped George. Sometimes you can feel what you can’t Explain in a twt. Sorry is All I Have."

The original tweet said, "Was talking With Mom & She Said 'I Watched Trial Of Policeman Who Killed George Floyd,& Cried'. I Said 'Mom, I Know This Is Gonna Sound CRAZY, But.. I Kept Thinking .....Maybe If I’d Been There,...I Could’ve Helped.'"

Her original critics thought that while she meant well, she was unintentionally making George Floyd's case about her. After reflecting, she initially posted that she knows her heart, and sincerely apologizes to anyone she offended in the Black community.

Andy Cohen replied to her second and most recent tweet saying, "We love you," and her over 3 million followers had similar messages to deliver with full hearts.

Twitter Comforts Cher

It takes courage and self-awareness to take accountability for actions that hurt someone, even if that was not one's intention.

Cher's tweet emphasizes the sorrow she has both for the death of George Floyd and that she could have hurt anyone closely in touch with police brutality.

One of her fans replied, "Please don’t apologise for having a good. I can’t believe people made it into something it wasn’t. Is this what the world has come to- ripping somebody apart for being caring and expressing how they feel? Makes me sad."

While we don't have the right to accept her apology, as it's not ours to accept, we still feel for Cher. She's been an advocate for racial equity and has used her platform to frequently speak about the importance of Black Lives Matter.

Another fan gave her a virtual hug with words, "Those who didn’t understand what you meant don’t know you. They don’t understand how compassionate you are."
