Even the best fall down during auditions. Dane Cook completely bailed on his SNL tryout, while Jim Carrey got rejected by the show, despite his brilliance in comedy at a young age.

Chris Evans Doesn't Have The Best History When It Comes To Auditions

Although he's at the very top of Hollywood these days, things haven't always been the easiest for Chris Evans, especially when it comes to auditions.

Evans had a couple of forgettable experiences, including his audition for Observe and Report, alongside Seth Rogen.

Evans recalls, "I walked in the room, and there were Seth and the director and a producer, and for some reason, my brain just started shrieking, just screaming, “No, no, no.” I began my audition, and about three lines in, I got this wave of sweats and my face went red. Mid-audition, I said, “I’m sorry, guys. I’m sorry. I’ve got to stop.”

The nightmare got worse for Evans, as he returned to the same audition the next day, only for the same outcome to take place.

"They got me back in a couple of days later and I’m back in. Don’t you fucking know, it happened again! [Laughs] There’s a wave of heat and sweat and I had to stop again. And I just say, “Guys, I’m so sorry...I’m just going to go.” I did not get that role."

Evans would have the same fears thinking about his audition for Captain America. However, thankfully, he was able to overcome that fear and as they say, the rest is history.

Chris Evans Didn't Expect To See Ben Affleck At His Audition

The Ben Affleck film Gone Baby Gone was a moderate success at the box office, though reviews were extremely positive for the film. Chris Evans almost appeared in the film, auditioning for a role in the movie. However, things didn't go over so well for Evans.

It all started to go south for the actor when he realized Ben Affleck was also in the audition room.

"I walked in and I'm walking down the halls looking for this room, and as I passed a room I heard, 'There he is.' In my head I was like, 'That's Ben,'" he explained to Backstage in September 2011. "I turned around and it was, and for some reason, I instantly was nervous."

The nerves would continue for Evans, as out of his nervousness, he brought up the topic of a parking meter..."I went in and shook his hand, and the first thing I said was, 'Hey, how ya doing — am I gonna be ok where I parked?' And he said, 'Where'd you park?' And I said, 'At one of the meters.' And he said, 'Did you put money in it?' And I said, 'Yeah.' And he said, 'I think you'll be all right."

Sadly, from that moment on, things weren't any easier for the actor.

Chris Evans Wanted To Leave The Room And Was Giving One Word Answers

It would only get worse for Affleck from then on, as Evans wanted to leave the room and exit the audition.

"From that moment, I just wanted to get the f--- out of the room. I just wanted to be anywhere but there. I sat down with my heart beating out of my chest, I was so mortified that I started this meeting off that way. I started giving him one-word answers," he shared.

Evans would also reveal that he gave one word answers throughout the audition, like when asked how his last film was, Evans simply responded by saying, "good." Unlike his audition with Seth Rogen, Evans didn't request a second crack at it...

The film did just fine with Casey Affleck in the lead, while Chris Evans' career would also thrive without the film.
