Norway is the land of Vikings, dramatic landscapes, and ancestors of several A-listers. While one can name many celebs of Italian descent thanks to their telling surnames, those with the Norwegian roots remain relatively unknown.

Some celebrities actually look exactly like a stereotypical Scandinavian citizen. They have blue eyes, light skin, and blonde hair. Since those are all recessive genes, many celebs with Norwegian blood don't look like that.

10 Alison Brie

Dave Franco's gorgeous wife Alison Brie has versatile genes. Her paternal grandfather was born in the US, but he is of English, German, Norwegian, and Dutch descent. Additionally, his wife was a Scottish immigrant. Brie's mom is Jewish.

According to Ethnicelebs, Brie also considers herself Jewish, even though she grew up Catholic: "My mother is Jewish. My father was raised Catholic, but by the time I was born he was going to church in more like, Christian/Hindu faith, so it was very meditation-like."

9 Michelle Williams

Michelle Williams rose to fame in the '90s when she starred in a popular teen drama Dawson's Creek. She went on to star in many melancholic movies, such as Blue Valentine and Brokeback Mountain.

According to Interview Magazine, Michelle's middle name is Ingrid and her mother's maiden name is Swenson. Her great, great grandmother came to Ellis Island when she was just fifteen years old. Williams doesn't speak the language herself, but her family used to eat lefsa, a Norwegian dessert on the regular.

8 Josh Duhamel

Josh Duhamel comes from North Dakota. Besides being of Norwegian descent, he is also a little bit of a German, an Irishman, and a French-Canadian. He grew up in a large Catholic family and still goes to church every week to this day. He moved to South California when he was in college.

Before his acting debut in All My Children, Josh appeared in Christina Aguilera's hit song 'Genie in a Bottle'. His most famous roles are Danny McCoy in Las Vegas, Jack Spier in Lost Simon and Tad Hamilton in Win a Date With Tad Hamilton!. He was married to Fergie for ten years.

7 Piper Perabo

Piper Perabo is of Norwegian descent on her mother's side and she is well aware of her roots. In 2017, she tweeted that she was proud to be of Norwegian descent when the country had only women in its top three government positions.

Her name is still mostly associated with the 2000 hit rom-com Coyote Ugly, where she played Violet Sanford alongside Tyra Banks, Adam Garcia, and Maria Bello.

6 Kristen Wiig

Norwegians are typically blonde and have blue eyes, just like Kristen Wiig. Her surname is clearly Norwegian and it comes from the Vik area in Sogn og Fjordane. It was her paternal grandfather who emigrated across the pond when he was just a child.

Wiig didn't really plan on becoming an actor, but it just so happened that she realized she's good at it at college when she took an acting class because it was a course requirement. She moved to LA when she was thirty years old and the rest is history.

5 Chris Pratt

The Guardians of the Galaxy star's mother is of Norwegian descent and it could be that he got his Viking-like fearlessness from her. He knew he would one day be rich and famous when he was just a kid. Life took him all over the place, including Hawaii where he was homeless.

4 Amy Adams

Amy Adams was born in Italy, but she's of Norwegian and Danish descent. The two countries share an incredibly similar language. Amy Adams doesn't speak any of them, though.

Growing up, Adams took ballet lessons and genuinely wanted to become a professional ballerina. She changed her mind when she was 18 years old. It was a wise move as this actor is one of the highest-paid in the world and is currently worth $60 million.

3 Renée Zellweger

Zellweger clearly has Scandinavian roots: she is blonde, has fair skin, and beautiful blue eyes. Her mother Kjellfrid Irene Andreassen came to the States to be a governess in a Norwegian family residing in Texas. Her father isn't American, either: he is from Switzerland, a small town of Au.

She became a household name in the early 2000s, thanks to Bridget Jones, an endearing rom-com starring Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.

2 Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton showed the world what the life of a Gossip Girl character is like in reality. She grew up in penthouses in Manhattan and hung out with fellow trust fund babies, such as Ivanka Trump and Nicole Richie. In 2003, she made a career out of it: she joined Richie in a documentary called The Simple Life in which they lived lives of ordinary people from Arkansas.

Her Norwegian relatives weren't too thrilled about the way Paris represented their nation. According to Nettavisen, her grandfather came from a Norwegian town of Kløfta.

Chrissy's mom is from Thailand and her dad has Norwegian roots - that's where her foreign-sounding surname comes from. She went from being a model to an author, TV personality, and entrepreneur.
