Though she quit modeling full-time in 2000, Cindy Crawford remains a household name. Her impressive career trajectory started back in the '80s, and to this day, fans clamor for any and all info on the supermodel.

Fans can't deny that Cindy still looks amazing, even if it's not all-natural. She told Vogue Italy a few years ago that while botox scared her, she wasn't so into aging naturally as she thought she would be.

She elaborated, "Plastic surgery is really scary, but as long as you don't use these things to change your face, I think it's okay." Speaking of not changing your face...

Cindy Crawford's career trajectory almost stalled multiple times due to her mole, noted Daily MailThe first, admittedly small, modeling agency Cindy tried to connect with told her to have surgery.

Crawford's mom, however, cautioned her daughter against it. After all, she reasoned, you know what the beauty mark looks like. Rolling the dice with surgery and a scar could wind up with less desirable results.

So Cindy skipped surgery, though she pointed out that magazines continued to want to retouch her face or over-apply makeup. Since her mole isn't flat, it just looked like "a gigantic pimple," with makeup over the top, said the model.

British Vogue even retouched her first cover with them; it's likely the only snap of Cindy that exists without her trademark mole.

But her rise to fame would soon staunch the critics of Cindy's natural face and beauty mark. After her cover for American Vogue, where no one talked about nixing her mole from the final photo, "then it wasn't an issue anymore," said Cindy.

And her fame skyrocketed, too. The model even dated and married Richard Gere back in the day, though the pair split after four years. Cindy later married Rande Gerber and started a family with him, and the pair are still together today.

As far as her own feelings on her mole, Cindy said she hated it as a child. After that iconic magazine cover, though, countless fans were inspired by the model's confidence. She later explained, "Many women have beauty marks and when they saw me on the cover of Vogue or in a magazine with my beauty mark it made them feel more comfortable with their own beauty mark."

Clearly, Cindy focused on raising her kids, Kaia and Presley Gerber, to love themselves too. Then again, Presley's face tattoo is no doubt a bit of a conundrum for the supermodel. Cindy may have had her struggles as an up-and-comer, but her son Presley was arguably born with a silver spoon, so critics can't quite understand that one.

Regardless, Cindy's done some amazing things in her life, and she never let her unique facial feature be part of the conversation.
