Th show's standing has just been supported further by the arrival of its third season early in 2021. 7 Plans For An Extended 'Karate Kid' Universe

The Cobra Kai co-showrunner Schlossberg has declared that the expectation is to keep on extending the Karate Kid universe, and he's said that there are bunches of possible headings to investigate.

In a recent interview with TVLine, Schlossberg revealed that it is their hope and earnest desire to expand the Karate Kid universe, which in turn will revitalize the fans of the series. However, he also revealed that they indeed have an end game for Cobra Kai. With any luck, this will fit in perfectly with the possibility of the spin-off.

6 Love For The 'Cobra Kai' Characters

In the same interview with TVLine, Schlossberg added that if you take a gander at their careers, we've generally already had multiple spin-offs or sequels, all some may call it. He revealed that they became hopelessly enamored with the characters. He also said that if there is going to be a spin-off or sequel, the Cobra Kai spin-off will have to be of equal quality to the likes of Cobra Kai itself. That being said, a Cobra Kai spin-off is by no means out the window.

5 A Possible End To The 'Cobra Kai' Series

Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz also spoke about how they already had a set end game about the direction the story could take. This could easily mean a spin-off, or it could not. However, he also revealed that he was unsure how long or how many seasons it would take to get to that stage. While speaking, Hurwitz revealed they had lots of ideas for the universe that did not quite fit into the Cobra Kai series. This statement does indeed hint at a possibility for a spin-off.

4 Leftover Storylines

Cobra Kai showrunner and co-creator Hurwitz also spoke about how they ended up pushing ideas from one season to another and how others just fell off the board or went sideways entirely.

While this doesn't exactly say it is a spin-off story, all arrows point toward that direction. Storylines are not commonly thrown into the trash. Sooner or later, someone is bound to pick them up. That being said, this is not a guarantee that there is a spin-off in the works, but hey, never say never, right?

3 Unexplored Backstories

In addition, Hurwitz spoke about how unique every character is in the Cobra Kai series and further emphasized that to create such great characters, they had to have a solid back story. While most backstories of the characters in Cobra Kai are already in the TV series, a lot of backstories remain unattended. A back story is one of the ways popular TV series use to initiate spin-offs from parent shows. Could that be the case with the Cobra Kai TV series? Fans surely hope so.

2 It Is Netflix We're Talking About

With Netflix, it is really difficult to tell whether or not a TV series is going to get a spin-off or not. Still, Netflix is also home to a lot of spin-off movies, so what are the chances that Cobra Kai won't get picked up for a spin-off, considering the demand and love fans have for the franchise? As mentioned earlier, the mere thought of an expansion of the Karate Kid franchise opens doors for a whole new stream of possibilities.

Whether or not we get a spin-off from Cobra Kai, the fact remains that we are getting a fourth season of the TV show loved by many. Not every TV series grows to such heights, because the series Cobra Kai was canceled before it was picked up by Netflix. At this point, a satisfying ending to the series will do a lot of good.

1 Season Four Will Be 'Very Very Big'

With the end of season 3 seeing Johnny and Daniel making an alliance to protect their karate students at all costs, fans can expect season four to pick up with the former rivals' relationship.

“They, in a lot of ways, parallel each other in terms of their backstories and in terms of having their shared common past. So there’s this innate feeling in the audience that you just want to see the ying and the yang come together and fight for the same cause,” explained Schlossberg, in talking about Johnny and Daniel.

“We ended season three in that big way… that we knew we were getting to that point it’s the, you know, will these guys each put down their weapons and look at each other and say, ‘let’s give this a shot.'" shared show writer, Josh Heald, promising more goosebump-inducing moments like the ones in the season three finale. "So, you know, we are going to continue that story, you know, we aren’t leaving that story hanging."
