He also reacted to Keeping Up With The Kardashians ending after 20 seasons.

McHale, best known for his role on the sitcom Community, was also the host of The Soup, a satirical weekly show aired, just like KUWTK, on E! and ended in 2015 after eleven seasons.

Joel McHale On Making Fun Of The Kardashians On His Show ‘The Soup’

“Early on, we used to make fun of [the Kardashians] on The Soup,” McHale said on The Drew Barrymore Show.

And Kris Kardashian would call every week and be like, ‘He made fun of us again,’” he added.

KUWTK first aired in 2007, focusing on the professional and personal drama in the Kardashian-Jenner extended family.

McHale explained her would get calls from Ted Harbert, the then-president and CEO of Comcast Entertainment Group which included E! and other properties.

“It was like we had thrown a baseball into their yard and then they’re like, ‘This is mine!’” McHale continued.

The actor and comedian also revealed that Harbert had to step in to prevent him from taking aim at the reality TV show on a weekly basis.

“And so Ted [Harbert] would always be like, ‘Hey, man, can you kinda lay off ‘em this week?’” McHale said.

“And then I got to know Kris a little bit and she’s lovely […] that was early on,” he continued.

Despite this silly feud, McHale said that he knows what is the extended family’s longevity secret: their kindness.

"They’re super kind and their crew… I think their crew would die for them,” McHale said.

“They made [the show] a real family,” he said.

McHale also jokingly said he’s “so sorry” for the Kardashians after their show was cancelled. Ending the long-running series, however, was a decision which directly involved the family.

The Kardashian-Jenner family took to their social channels last September to announce the 20th season would also be the show’s last.

“It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians. After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and several spin-off shows, we’ve decided as a family to end this very special journey,” the family wrote on Instagram.

“We are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way,” they added.

“Thank you to the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience and most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray who’ve spent countless hours filming our lives,” they also said.
