An escaped cow in Indiana chose the safest place to be in order to evade police capture: a Chick-Fil-A restaurant.
We’ve seen cows escape from time to time here on TheThings, but rarely do we see a cow with enough foresight to actually pick a safe space for themselves. One cow in Indiana picked what is probably the safest place to be if you’re basically a walking beef platter.
On March 16, right around dinner time, a cow escaped from a passing trailer in Noblesville, Indiana, just north of Indianapolis. The cow led Noblesville Police on a merry chase all over the east end of town, going from various industrial parks and commercial malls, and even managed to shut down a busy parkway during the chase.
Perhaps most interesting was the ultimate destination the cow chose upon achieving its freedom. Sensing the insatiable lust for beef products that most Americans possess, the cow booked it to the nearest Chick-Fil-A, a restaurant chain known for providing chicken and only chicken to its many patrons.
Did the cow know that Chick-Fil-A is the only restaurant that would want nothing to do with its many delectable parts? We can only guess.
So this just happened!!!! 🐮 Michael E. W. HopkinsPosted by Athena Hopkins on Saturday, March 16, 2019
Part of the chase was caught on camera by Noblesville resident Athena Hopkins. You can see the cow crossing the busy road while police follow in SUV cruisers. Eventually, the cow starts heading towards the Chick-Fil-A in an apparent bid for ultimate freedom. The video quickly went viral after being posted and has now been viewed nearly 1.3 million times.
Sadly, the cow’s strategy didn’t work. Once at the Chick-Fil-A, police cornered the escaped cow and eventually wrangled it back into the trailer from whence it came.
Noblesville Police posted pictures of the cow to their Facebook page Monday morning with the request to have residents post even more in the comments. A Noblesville PD spokesperson wrote that officers were able to “run with the bulls,” and that officers had a “cowboy adventure.”
