Dance Moms first premiered in 2011, and followed the lives of young dancers and their mothers while they competed and trained with coach Abby Lee Miller, and anyone who ever tuned in would know that it was not only about dancing but also drama. So much drama. But the Lifetime reality series also enjoyed immense popularity, so much so that fans are still interested in what the stars of the show are up to these days.

A lot has changed in recent years, for starters, Miller is no longer apart of the show and she actually ended up spending time in prison on fraud charges. And fan favorite stars like Maddie Ziegler, Chloe Lukasiak, Brooke Hyland, and Nia Sioux, have all moved on with their lives, leaving the show well in their pasts. While some stars like Ziegler became even more famous, thanks to her work with singer Sia (she appeared as her mini-me in her music videos, and also toured North America with her), other young talents, like Brooke Hyland, decided to enjoy a slower pace of life, and she has embraced all the things that she missed out on when she had a gruelling training schedule.

Below are 15 stars of Dance Moms, and what they are doing now.

15 Maddie Ziegler Landed A Tiffany & Co. Ad

Maddie Ziegler was undoubtedly the star of Dance Moms, and she has become a well-known name in the entertainment industry even for those who didn’t watch the Lifetime reality show. She has made a name for herself as singer Sia’s mini-me, and in addition to featuring in music videos for her tracks "Chandelier,” “Unstoppable,” and “Elastic Heart,” Ziegler has also toured North America with the singer.

Then in 2017, Ziegler penned a memoir about her life (and she has accomplished a lot in just a few short years). The memoir was titled, The Maddie Diaries, and according to Life & Style, it became a New York Times Best Seller. As for why she decided to write about her life? Well, Ziegler told Entertainment Tonight that’s because she wanted people to be able to get to know the real her. She said, "I feel like a lot of people know me but there's a lot of things that they haven't learned yet. So, I'm here to teach them tips and tricks and a little bit more about my life.”

It's not just dancing that Ziegler is interested in, and she also featured as Christina in the film, The Book of Henry, and voiced the character of Camille in the animated film, Leap! And in 2018, she took to Instagram to share the ad campaign she did with Tiffany & Co.

14 Chloe Lukasiak Has Started A Book Club

When Chloe Lukasiak and her mother Christi featured on Dance Moms, their storyline involved quite a bit of drama, and she abruptly left the show in Season 4. But according to them, this drama was partly because of dance coach, Abby Lee Miller, and Christi told People magazine in 2017, “What’s always the source of the drama? It’s Abby. She’s a strong personality and it’s difficult to stand up to her.”

They also discussed how Chloe would return to the show in Season 8, to say goodbye properly, and on air, with Chloe telling People, “I really didn’t even think I was leaving [season 4]. I figured we would go back the next season, and then I left and I never came back. It felt very unfinished for me, I needed closure.”

According to IMDB, in 2016, she appeared as Gwen Murphy in the TV movie, Center Stage: On Pointe, and Mallory in the upcoming Sci-Fi film, F.R.E.D.I.

Reading is another thing that has always been important to Chloe and she decided to launch a book club where she could give fans her suggestions. She revealed this on Instagram in a post in February of 2018, in which she wrote about how she had partnered with Girl’s Life Magazine and Barnes and Noble to create Chloe’s Book Club, which she described as “a community for book lovers.”

13 Paige Hyland Is A Fashion Loving Star

Paige Hyland is the younger sister of Dance Moms’ Brooke Hyland, and both of their stints on Dance Moms ended not long after their mother, Kelly Hyland’s bust-up with Abby Lee Miller. Things turned ugly between the two women, and according to Life & Style magazine, the feud (which was aired on the show) even ended in a legal battle, although all charges against Hyland were later dismissed. But this incident also caused Brooke and Paige to leave the show and the dance company.

Since then, Paige has modeled in New York Fashion Week for Sherri Hill, and in 2015, she spoke to International Business Times, saying, “It’s really kind of fun because you get to see everything come to life. All the pretty girls walking the runway.”

Despite having other interests, according to Life & Style magazine, neither Brooke or Paige dance anymore, and Paige appears to be enjoying the life of a normal teenager, well, one with over 3 million followers on Instagram. She also recently went to prom with a guy named Nick Kelly, who if their Instagram pages are anything to go by, appear to be in a relationship -- or at the very least they are very, very into each other.

12 JoJo Siwa Is A Businesswoman And A Social Media Sensation

JoJo Siwa started auditioning to be a part of Abby Lee Miller’s dancing team back in 2014, and in 2015, she was given her shot. She went on to appear on the reality show, Dance Moms, but ultimately left in 2016, and she has been a very busy girl ever since.

Since leaving the show, Siwa has become a businesswoman, partnering with Claires to create a variety of bright bows, as well as sequinned bags, notebooks and even pens and tumblers adorned with bows. In 2017, she hosted Lip Sync Battle Shorties alongside Nick Cannon, and she’s transitioned into acting, and has a number of credits on her IMDB page, including the TV series, School of Rock as Audrey, and the TV movie, Blurt, as Victoria Martin. In addition, j-14 notes that she also starred in her own Nickelodeon special titled JoJo Siwa: My World.

At this point, it’s hard to imagine how Siwa finds time to do everything, but she’s clearly a bit of a superwoman and is also active on YouTube, where she has more than 6 million subscribers. Actually, she seems to slay when it comes to social media in general and her Instagram has almost 7 million followers, which is not bad for someone who is only aged 14.

11 Nia Sioux Launched A New Website

After seven years on Dance Moms, Nia Sioux left the show, but she definitely didn’t take a break from the limelight. Speaking of her decision to leave the reality world behind her, Sioux told Teen Vogue, “It’s crazy to see how far it’s come and how much I’ve been through. I was just like, I’m 16 now, I’m growing up, the show has been a great platform, but it’s time to move on. During the show, I couldn’t take all the opportunities that I wanted to, and now since I’m off the show I’m getting to do what I want to do."

One of those opportunities was to appear in Summer Dance, which according to the publication, is a film about a young dancer balancing relationships and her passions. But Sioux is also inspiring people with her Instagram, which has 4.6 million followers. She does this with a little thing she likes to call #RoleModelMonday, whereby she shares a post about someone who is inspirational. But she also posts photos of herself and her friends, which include fellow Dance Moms star Mackenzie Ziegler, and a guy she appears to be dating, Bryce Xavier.

And then in 2018, she launched a new website, Nia Sioux Frazier, where she shares her thoughts via blog posts.

10 Mackenzie Ziegler Has A Juicy Memoir About 'Dance Moms'

There is not just one Ziegler sister, but two, who made it big in the dancing world, and Mackenzie Ziegler is the younger sister of Maddie. She also featured on the show, Dance Moms, joining it in 2011 (she was only six), but she has less pleasant things to say about her time as a reality star. According to Radar Online, in Ziegler’s memoir, Kenzie’s Rules for Life: How to be Happy, Healthy and Dance to Your Own Beat, she slammed her reality experience, writing, “I always felt like I had to live up to people’s expectations of me. I thought everyone was constantly judging me, watching each move and tearing it apart, nitpicking everything I did and laughing at me behind my back. The competitive dance world and reality TV can get a little crazy.”

She also shared that she felt as though she had no childhood because dance consumed everything, and she missed out on a lot of things that normal teenagers would do, like after-school activities, parties, and playdates. But a book is not the only thing that Mackenzie has done since appearing on the show, she has also joined forces with singer Johnny Orlando for a single titled “What If,” and Romper reports that she partnered with GE for an ad campaign.

9 Abby Lee Miller Still Has A Fire Burning Inside Her

Abby Lee Miller was arguably the star of Dance Moms because the show revolved around her as the dance coach, and the young girls she was molding into dancers of the future. However, she too has left Dance Moms, although it wasn’t under the most pleasant of circumstances. In March of 2017, it was revealed that Miller would be leaving the show, ahead of the jail time she was due to serve relating to a fraud cause. According to Deadline, she said at the time, “I will no longer take part in Dance Moms,” and her announcement was not all that surprising as the publication notes that she had raged online about the producers of the show multiple times.

Miller was indicted on 20 counts of fraud and was expected to serve a year in federal prison, according to TMZ. But in March of 2018, the publication notes that she was released early and would spend the last few months of her sentence in a halfway house called Residential Reentry Center, where law enforcement sources told them that she was scheduled to be released from on May 25. That said, there is no news on what the future holds for the former reality star, although TMZ claims that while at her halfway house Miller will be given employment counseling and job placement.

She has also returned to Instagram, so she’s not ready to disappear from the limelight just yet, and in February she revealed an empowering message, despite being sick, on one of her posts. She wrote, “I’m surviving because the fire inside me burns brighter than the fire around me.”

8 Brooke Hyland Has Enjoyed All The Things She Missed Out On

Brooke Hyland, like her sister Paige, has apparently given up her dancing shoes (at least according to a report by Life & Style, who revealed that in an episode on Dance Moms titled Chloe & Christi's Encore, Christi Lukasiak revealed that Kelly Hyland’s daughters "hung up their pointe shoes"). And Kelly told OK! Magazine (via Bustle) that since leaving Dance Moms her daughters have a lot more flexibility in their schedules. She said, "They wanted to go to school dances and do that kind of stuff and they were never allowed.”

In 2016, Brooke got to go to prom, and the photos she posted on Instagram revealed that she looked beautiful in a royal blue sequined dress. And speaking of school, Brooke went on to graduate from high school and according to Fandom, she has enrolled in Ohio University to further her education. She also looks too really be enjoying her life, at least if a glance at her Instagram page is anything to go by. She regularly posts to the social media platform, which has an impress fan following of 3. 2 million, and in these photos, she shares snaps of herself and her friends, but also her boyfriend, Tristen Rose.

7 Kalani Hilliker Turned Her Love Of Clothes Into A Business

Kalani Hilliker is now aged 17, and blossoming into a beautiful young woman, and she also doesn’t appear to miss her time on Dance Moms. She revealed in an interview with SweetyHigh that although her favorite part of being on the show was being with the other girls, who were like a “family,” the toughest part was the stress that came with it. She said, “I hate to say the word stressful, but it kind of is in a way. We learn our dances so fast and then there's always drama happening outside while we're trying to learn our dances. It's hard to focus when people are talking about you. We always want to go on stage and do our best, and it's very difficult to feel like you're doing your best when you're worrying about a ton of different things all at the same time.”

Since the time on the show, Hilliker admits that she has stayed close with the girls, but she has also gone on to do new things, including launching a dancewear line called Kalani Collection, in association with Purple Pixies. And fashion seems to be something that she’s really interested in, because according to Naluda magazine, she launched a clothing label, Mod Angel, and a premium sock line called KH by Kalani, which she revealed was because she wanted to “make crazy awesome socks that you can’t really lose ‘cause they are so colorful and fun!”

6 Elliana Walmsley Headed To The Live Stage

Elliana Walmsley is one of the youngest dancers on this list, having first appeared on Dance Moms as a member of the ALDC mini team in Season 6. According to Fandom, she later joined the elites and she and her mother Yolanda Walmsley remained on the show until the disbandment of the group. Now, at just 10 years, it’s unlikely that she would have launched a clothing brand like Kalani Hilliker, or penned a juicy memoir like the Ziegler sisters, but she has been busy dancing.

Broadway World revealed that Walmsley starred in the musical Dance Divas Nutcracker (based on Sheryl Berk's book series), which ran from Dec.13 to Dec.17 of 2017. And according to Daily Mail, in November of 2017, she and fellow Dance Moms alum Lilly Ketchman joined forces for a photo shoot in New York City with the photographer, Jordan Matter.

Photoshoots seem to be something that Walmsley enjoys, and her Instagram page is filled with photos of her dancing, as well as photo shoots that she’s worked on. On a recent post, she revealed that she and male dancer Brady Farrar would be attending the CAPEZIO Dance Awards in Las Vegas to celebrate the 130th Anniversary and she was incredibly excited about being involved.

5 Kendall Vertes Is Focusing On The Music Business

When Kendall Vertes left Dance Moms it wasn’t on the best terms with Abby Lee Miller. According to International Business Times, her mother Jill Vertes announced on Dance Moms that she had sent Miller a letter requesting to end their business relationship relating to Kendall’s music career. Jill said, “We’ve been unhappy for sometime now that Abby has been sitting on entire album of Kendall’s music.” While the women parting ways was initially peaceful, Miller later had some nasty words for Kendall’s mother, telling her, “You’re nobody and you’re nothing!”

Anyway, that’s over, and Kendall is still dancing with the girls she once shared a stage with from the Lifetime show, except now they are doing a tour called The Irreplaceables Tour. The website for this tour reads: “The Irreplaceables (Kendall, Chloe & Kalani) bring their world-class talent and larger-than-life personalities to major cities across North America.” There are dates set for June and July of 2018, and it appears that they have now taken their talents internationally because destinations include Dublin, Glasgow, Sao Paulo, Lima, and London.

Kendall keeps her fans updated via Instagram, where she regularly posts selfies, and updates about her latest projects, which include an appearance in Mackenzie Sol’s video for the track “Taken.”

4 Brynn Rumfallo Has Become A Lover Cheerleading

Brynn Rumfallo exited Dance Moms after Abby Lee Miller left, in part because of her mom, Ashlee Allen, who felt that the show wanted the girls to perform routines that were too adult in nature. Allen told TMZ that the producers had been pushing for more provocative routines, which she felt was too much for her teenage daughter. But as for what Brynn did next, well, there doesn’t seem to be much clarity on that.

What we do know is that she’s incredibly active on social media and often updates fans with recent photos of herself, and one of her new passions seems to be cheerleading. She has shared a photo of herself in cheer uniform, which she captioned with, “my favorite things are football games.” She also still appears to be dancing, and has shared snaps of herself in leotards with a squad of girls.

But it’s not just sharing images that Rumfallo uses Instagram for, she has also used it to promote the phone case she designed with the company BecauseOfACase to help with childhood diabetes research; and has shared paid promotions. These include an ad for animated series Hanazuki: Full of Treasures, as well as Scholastic.

3 Camryn Bridges' Fans Will Be Happy To Know She's Still Dancing

Camryn Bridges recently celebrated her 16th birthday, went to prom with a handsome guy, and is still dancing (she shares videos of some of the routines she has done on Instagram), and for the most part, she appears to be just a regular teenager -- albeit one with a serious skill. And in 2018, she gave an interview to DanceSpirit, revealing a little more about her life now, which involves a lot of dancing, as she even confessed that her favorite thing to do on a Sunday is to dance all day (either that, or sleeping and watching TV shows).

She also reflected on her time as a Lifetime reality star, and confessed that it was the best moment of her career, but also incredibly draining. She said: “The greatest moment in my dance career was definitely a blessing but also felt like a curse. I auditioned for the reality dance TV show Dance Moms in 2016 and made it onto the show, which I thought would be the best experience ever. But it was mentally and emotionally draining, with all of the fighting and hate I received for just walking in the door. I am 100 percent grateful for the experience and the exposure, though.”

2 There’s No Stopping The Talents Of Asia Monet

Asia Monet never really needed Dance Moms to be a star because it seems she was always destined to be in the limelight and even got her own Lifetime show, Raising Asia (which followed Monet, her parents, and her younger sister, through the trials and tribulations that they all face when it comes to raising a young star). She has also shown off her skills as an actress and according to her IMDB page, her roles include Young Lexi in Sister Code, Sydney Simpson in American Crime Story, and the character Jasmine in Grey’s Anatomy.

And in an interview with SweetyHigh, Monet shared her feelings about when she got cast, saying, "I was with my mom in the car when I received both calls from my agent. We went and celebrated over dessert! We did a little shopping too!” She’s a multi-talented act, being able to dance, act, and sing, speaking of which, in 2017 she released a single, “Come Along.”

But, what’s next for Monet, and how does she manage to juggle everything? She told Sweetyhigh what she feels the future holds, saying, “I'm so excited! There's a lot of hard work ahead with my training, vocals, and acting, but I have been blessed with amazing opportunities. By the end of this year, there will be more music, movies, and videos. Stay tuned!”

1 Cheryl Burke Got Engaged To The Love Of Her Life

When Abby Lee Miller left Dance Moms people were convinced that the show was over for good, but the producers instead decided to replace Miller with a new dancing coach, Cheryl Burke.

Burke is best-known for being a professional dancer on the reality competition, Dancing with the Stars, but she was clearly up for another challenge. She told People magazine in October of 2017; “I’d had a meeting with one of the executives. And I got a call a few days later from my manager saying, ‘Abby walked off set, and they’d love for you to take her place.’ I was just thrown into it!”

And although Miller’s style made for great television, Burke intended to be very different in her approach to the girls. She said, “The girls told me they were traumatized by Abby. I’m strict, but I don’t yell. I want to make sure they don’t lose their love of dance.” Instead, she wanted to take a more nurturing approach and did not plan to criticize the way the young dancers look or the things that they cannot change.

But Lifetime has since canceled the series, and Burke took a hot minute away from the limelight in March of 2018, even quitting social media. She told People, “I’m dealing with some personal things right now and need to take a break from social media.” She’s back now, and her personal life appears to be going pretty great because she revealed she got engaged to Matt Lawrence in May of 2018.
