Rumors of Daniel Radcliffe returning to the Harry Potter franchise arose when he said he would play Sirius Black or Remus Lupin in a potential Harry Potter reboot. Some fans of the popular film series thought the actor was hinting at a future installment, but that was far from the case.

The 32-year-old actor recently sat down with SiriusXM’s Pop Culture Spotlight to talk about his new comedy series, Miracle Workers. When the show’s host Jessica Shaw asked him about whether or not he will return for another Harry Potter installment, Radcliffe offered some clarity about his previous comments.

“No, that has not happened. I think that I think I’m remembering right. That the question was like a hypothetical of, 'who else would you have liked to play in this series?'” he explained, referring to his answer about the possible reboot.

“Um, but yeah, it’s, there’s always going to be, you know, talk of some sort...but it genuinely, genuinely is always a lot more in the media than in actuality,” he continued.

The Harry Potter star clarified that he was never approached by producers for a potential film or reboot in the franchise.

The Woman in Black star has always had a complicated relationship with his role in the Harry Potter films. Back in February, Radcliffe spoke with Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood for Empire Magazine and revealed that he’s still “immensely embarrassed” by his early acting skills in the film series.

"It's like asking, 'How do you feel about your teenage years?' There's so much in there that it's almost impossible to single out one feeling," he said.

"It's hard to separate my relationship with Harry from my relationship with the films as a whole,” he added.

Despite that, Radcliffe emphasized that he’s still grateful for the role, and the opportunity cemented his acting career.

“It showed me what I want to do with the rest of my life. To find out early on what you love is really lucky.”
