In 2021 record producer and composer David Foster welcomed a son with his wife, actress, and singer Katharine McPhee. One of the most interesting facts about David and Katharine's relationship is their 35-year age difference. Their son is their first child together, but he is David's sixth because Foster has five adult daughters from previous relationships. As most people remember, he was Gigi and Bella Hadid as well as Brandon and Brody Jenner's step-father at some point.

David's firstborn child, Allison Jones Foster, was given up for adoption but later reconnected with her father. She works at the David Foster Foundation, then comes Amy Skylark Foster from his first marriage who is an author and songwriter. He had Sara who is an actress and designer, Erin who is also a designer, and Jordan, a celebrity stylist from his second marriage.

His Daughters Have Done Well For Themselves

David first became a father at just 20 years old, he gave his daughter Allison up for adoption. 30 years later, the pair reconnected and established a relationship. The 51-year-old now works at the David Foster Foundation, where she serves as the director and secretary to the board.

His second child is Amy Skylark Foster, he had Amy with his first wife B.J. Cook. Like her dad, she is also a songwriter, in addition to being a lyricist and novelist. Sometimes celebrities' kids follow in their famous parent's footsteps.

David later had Sara, Erin, and Jordan Foster with his second wife, Rebecca Dyer. Erin and Sara starred in the comedy series Barely Famous. Sarah also starred in 90210, and she runs a clothing and lifestyle brand called Favorite Daughter with Erin. The duo has collaborated on several projects over the years, not only did they serve as Heads of Creatives for Bumble but are also advisers and influencers for the workout company Mirror.

David's fifth daughter, Jordan, is a celebrity stylist, she has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. Like the rest of her siblings, she has carved her own path and established her place in the industry. Jordan has worked with some big names in Hollywood—from Karolina Kurkova, Lily Aldridge, and Kate Upton to Ashley Graham.

He Had A Strained Relationship With Some Of His Daughters

David apparently has a great relationship with his children, but that wasn't always the case. Amy, Sara, and Erin have all spoken about their dad's absence from their lives growing up. Per PEOPLE, in the documentary David Foster: Off the Record, Amy spoke about her relationship with her father and how it has changed with time.

"He understands that as a parent, it's a lot more than providing — he puts time in, he puts energy, he puts effort." She further stated, "[Our relationship] has grown a lot, and I think my dad and I are a lot alike," she says. "The relationship that I have with my dad is so great now. He's not so stuck in his ways that he thinks that he's intractable, that he doesn't need to change. He's evolving every day, and I love that."

Meanwhile, Sara and Erin also spoke about their relationship with their father on Kate and Oliver Hudson's "Sibling Revelry" podcast. According to Page Six, the famous sisters revealed that people assumed they were spoiled when that was far from reality.

"We never lived with our dad, right, after our parents broke up. So, from the ages of 3 and 5 we were living with our mom, and our dad was living in this $20 million house with Brandon and Brody. It had the trolley, it had the pool and this thing."

Erin spoke about how different their life was from that of their dad and his new family and how they weren't a part of his world.

"They had a very different life. But, out in the world, people would be like, ‘You guys are spoiled brats and you guys have it all, and you’re rich kids.’ And we would be like, ‘I mean, yeah, but we don’t live there. We don’t have the gate code. We don’t have a room there. We’re not really a part of that world."

David Has Some Famous Former Step Kids

Foster has a wonderful blended family and has in the past been a stepfather to some famous stars. At some point, he was Gigi and Bella Hadid's stepdad. David was married to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Yolanda Hadid, the pair were married for four years before calling it quits.

Foster was also a step-parent to Brandon and Brody Jenner back in the day, he was married to their mother Linda Thompson. Linda had Brandon and Brody with Olympian, Caitlyn Jenner.
