Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard's money is in a good place right now; their wallets, just the way they like it.

While we absolutely love Bell and Shepard and their often hysterical marriage, it is hard to believe that they are a part of the group of celebrities that like holding on to their money for dear life.

The couple clearly doesn't have to be frugal when they have a combined $40 million net worth. Yet Bell continues to buy $45 dresses and hunt down the best sales.

While we can't fault them for wanting to spend smartly like the rest of us, it's still surprising to hear when a celebrity doesn't want to spend their fortune. Most of them like to brag about their wealth. Their frugalness kinda makes them more endearing to us.

Here's how the couple truly spends their combined $40 million.

Bell Doesn't Drop The Benjamins For High Fashion

While many celebrities are spotted outside ordinary stores, they are usually buying for their kids. Angelina Jolie has been spotted shopping at Target with her kids, but we doubt Jolie would ever wear something from the store.

Bell, on the other hand, apparently loves shopping for herself at places like Target so much that she bought a $45 dress and wore it on a red carpet. Places like Target and H&M do have designer brands, though, so Bell isn't really sacrificing style.

The $45 dress wasn't the only time Bell wore brands from Target, either. But as a celebrity you can wear Target and fans will think you're wearing some fancy designer. It's fashionable to wear sweat pants and sweatshirts after all.

She also told Conan O'Brien that she loves Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Bell and Shepard don't just wear affordable clothes, they make their own affordable clothing too. She and her husband made a line of baby supplies for Walmart in 2019, called Hello Bello. They sell everything your baby needs, from clothes to diapers, but don't skimp out on ingredients or materials when making the supplies. Everything is plant-based, which is better for babies and the environment.

Not bad for a celebrity who reportedly stole coupons from her neighbor's mailbox. But, the money they get from the line probably sits comfortably in their bank accounts, not to be touched.

The couple also had an extremely cheap wedding. They spent a grand total of $142. For some celebrities that wouldn't even cover the cake. So that means that there was no impressive dress and tux for them or some beautiful destination wedding filled with all their loved ones. Most of the cost came from the marriage certificate which the pair signed when they said "I do," at the local justice of the peace in 2013.

They Like Real Estate But Don't Have A McMansion

Bell and Shepard own at least two apartment buildings in Los Angles. Their real estate endeavors were revealed when it came to light that the couple was refusing to accept rent checks from their tenants during April, the peak of the pandemic.

According to the L.A. Times, they did buy themselves a nice 1920s English Revival-style home worth $4.3 million, in 2017. The home is situated in the Laughlin Park area on a pretty big piece of property. From the outside, it seems modest but there are 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, a library, and everything else they could need.

Bell and Shepard didn't furnish the home (which was designed by the architect who designed the Playboy Mansion) with high-end furniture, of course. They do have young children, after all. But somehow we think they wouldn't have spent much on furniture even if they were childless.

They got a La-Z-Boy couch, and then fought about where to put it. The very public fight, (which pretty much went viral as everything they do does) spurred the relaunch of the furniture company's "Live Life Comfortably" campaign, and Bell was invited to join the team.

Besides the La-Z-Boy, Bell described the style of her home as "mishmashed," and she told Architectural Digest that she didn't work with a designer.

The family apparently didn't stay long in the house, though, because they moved in 2019. Bell did, however, decide to "spoil herself" and get a designer for that place, using Amber Interiors. Bell's personal motto for her home is "Comfort above everything."

She might be cheap with her own home, but she's not very cheap on other people, as we've seen with her rent lenience. She once remodeled her sister's basement, in an episode of MyHouzz.

Clothes and furniture are only a couple of things the celebrity couple cut costs on. Let's hope that they won't be so frugal on their children's higher education. Eventually, they'll have enough cash stored up for really early retirement, and tons of vacations. Who are we kidding though? Their money's not going towards anything except 40% off jeans and buy one get one free vegan pizza.
