Pierce Brosnan is officially joining the DCEU!

The actor doesn't look like James Bond anymore...but DC fans believe he is the perfect choice to play Dr. Fate in the DCEU, alongside The Rock's Black Adam! Brosnan is the latest key character to have been cast in Black Adam, which will be the big screen debut of the Justice Society of America.

His character, Doctor Fate is a powerful sorcerer and founding member of the group and possesses various powers such as flight, superhuman strength, spell casting, telekinesis and telepathy among others. He can also travel between parallel Earths and manipulate force fields.

DC Fans Send Pierce Brosnan Love

The superhero first debuted in May 1940's More Fun Comics #5, but this is his first-ever on-screen appearance! Black Adam will chronicle the story of the titular character, a power-corrupt super villain who eventually became an anti-hero, and will be portrayed by Dwayne Johnson.

"If there ever was a perfect casting this is it," wrote @DCsDoctorFate. The tweet sees a picture of Kent Nelson (Doctor Fate) alongside Pierce Brosnan, and the resemblance between them is uncanny!

Black Adam is a spin-off of Shazam! (2019), where Johnson was originally expected to play a villain. The crew reworked plans, so the actor could have his independent superhero film with some of the best DC superheroes like Hawkman and Atom Smasher joining him.

@PolitoThomas shared, "thinking about how Aldis Hodge's Hawkman and Pierce Brosnan's Dr Fate are absolutely gonna need spin-offs after Black Adam comes out."

Kent Nelson in the DC Comics is known as an occult practitioner and a protector of the Helmet of Fate. By using the magical Helmet, Nelson permitted Nabu (the Lord of Order) to use his body, and transformed into Doctor Fate.

He is referred to as the Earth's Sorcerer Supreme in the comic-books and is one of DC's oldest and most loved superheroes. His character, along with the rest of the Justice Society of America which includes Hawkman, Atom Smasher (played by To All The Boys star Noah Centineo) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell) will be seen in a face-off against Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam.

The film is scheduled to release in December 2021!
