DC fans believe it is an opportunity missed.

Newly released concept art has revealed Wayne T. Carr was cast as John Stewart aka Green Lantern in Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Jojo Aguilar, a leading production and concept designer on the film shared unseen looks at multiple characters intended to appear in Justice League; including Granny Goodness, the Joker, the Martian Manhunter and John Stewart aka Green Lantern.

It Would've Been Stewart's Big-Screen Debut

Stewart is the first African-American superhero to have appeared in DC Comics, and was an architect from Detroit, Michigan. He was selected by the Guardians of the Universe to take up the mantle after Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan's (previously portrayed by Ryan Reynolds) backup was injured in a disaster.

Stewart was expected to appear in the closing moments of Zack Snyder's Justice League, in the same sequence where the Martian Manhunter (Harry Lennix) reveals himself to Ben Affleck's Batman.

Ever since the concept art made its way to Twitter, DC fans are furious over the character's removal from the film!

"He would've made his big screen debut as Green Lantern if WB didn't tell Snyder to remove GL from the film..." shared @UberKryptonian.

"Warner Bros removed Wayne Carr's role as green lantern from justice league," added @Aquuaman.

They added, "this could’ve been Wayne Carr’s big Hollywood break he was playing green lantern and WB literally forced Zack to remove his scene."

"The suit looks perfect! Why would WB force Zack Snyder to cut Green Lantern out?! WHYYY?" added another fan.

Wayne T. Carr's previous work features his involvement with theater, and the actor is known to have performed in numerous stage companies across the United States. DC fans are disappointed at Warner Bros. for taking away an opportunity from an "unknown actor with raving theater reviews", especially when a role in Zack Snyder's Justice League could have easily been his big break.

In an interview with Esquire, the director explained he filmed a scene with Green Lantern in his "yard".

"And then they [WB Studios] asked me, when they saw the movie and saw that I put it in there, they’d take it out. And I said that I would quit if they tried to take it out. And I felt bad. The truth is I didn't want the fans to not have a movie, just based on that one stand that I was going to take."

Snyder explained he "didn't want to take a person of color out of this [JL] movie," but "having Harry Lennix's Martian Manhunter at the end" made it "okay".
