Drake has seemingly pulled off one of the best reunions in music video history!
The rapper recently released the music video to his latest single “I’m Upset”, which features none other than his former cast members from Degrassi. Before Drake was, well Drake, he was Jimmy on Degrassi. Drake, who went by his real name, Aubrey Graham, at the time, starred on the hit show for seven consecutive years.
The Canadian television show was a smash hit, starring all of our favorite characters from Spinner, Marco, Paige, Emma, and Craig, and behold, they have all reunited in none other than Drake's video. The “I’m Upset” music video came just in time for the shows 10-year-anniversary, which is what we can only imagine inspired this iconic reunion. The video begins with Jimmy, played by Drake, waking up sans wheelchair in the middle of a basketball court.
Drake’s character gets a calendar notification about his 10-year high school reunion, which ultimately takes him back to the good old Degrassi days. Jimmy heads to grab a suit, where he then meets Spinner, who is already decked out and dressed to impress. They both make an entrance at the reunion, where they meet up with the rest of their friend group. This version of Jimmy becomes a famous rapper, who was never shot, unlike his character in season 4.
Drakes character was shot in Degrassi, leading to his paralysis and need for a wheelchair for the remainder of his time on the show. Flash-forward to 2018, Drake is now seeking revenge on his shooter, Rick! Leave it to Drake to get revenge on a fictional character a decade later. The music video is all over social media and fans of both the hit show and Drake the musical artist love every bit of it.
Many were shocked that Drake was able to pull off such a great production, but it is Drake, so how surprised can we really be? A few fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the video, saying: “Every single person in the Degrassi cast somehow glowed up in the best way”, wrote one Twitter user. Fellow rapper Huey Mack wrote: “Drake putting the dude who shot him in Degrassi in a music video and having his boys chase him down is the single most full circle satisfying thing I’ve seen today”.
